It houses a famous image of the Virgin Mary that according to tradition appeared there under miraculous circumstances. | | Message from Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller, MSpS
| | | The mystery of Pentecost is a consequence of the self-emptying love of God for us. Likewise, the actualization of the coming of the Holy Spirit in this celebration unites the Church and each of our hearts with the Father, and the Son, and the same Holy Spirit – to each divine person in a unique way. We are inspired by the recent conclave. So-called Vatican experts speculated about alleged political intrigues. Some cardinals even publicly confessed their own biases at the beginning of the process. Yet after it concluded, cardinals everywhere have been bearing witness that the election became for them a profound spiritual encounter with God. Even the most human processes bow to the work of the Spirit. On May 8, when Cardinal Robert Prevost was elected Pope Leo XIV, the Church experienced a fresh Pentecost. The Holy Spirit moved hearts beyond faction or partisanship, guiding the College of Cardinals to a united “Yes” for the Vicar of Christ we need. The Holy Spirit does not hover at a distance but acts through us, weaving our different gifts into the harmony of one Body. What begins in prayer culminates in service. So, let us open ourselves to this living Spirit. Let us pray not only for a once-for-all outpouring, but for the continual coming of the Spirit in new ways – through our baptism, our Eucharist, our works of mercy. May our unity in the Triune God shine forth in the unity of our parishes, our archdiocese, and the whole Church under Pope Leo XIV’s guidance. Ven, Holy Spirit, Ven!

Pentecost Vigil Mass
Tomorrow, Saturday, June 7 at 5 p.m
| | |
Archbishop Gustavo invites you to celebrate the Solemnity of Pentecost at Holy Spirit Church (directions).
Pentecost marks the descent of the Holy Spirit upon Mary and the Apostles — a feast often referred to as the birthday of the Church. Pentecost is also symbolizes unity in diversity. The story in Acts describes how people from various nations and language groups heard the apostles preaching in their own languages—highlighting the universality of the Church and its mission to reach people of all cultures and backgrounds.
Share the sacramental presence of Jesus Christ in Holy Communion so that through the power of the Holy Spirit we may continue to walk united in Christ. As we gather to worship, we anticipate a transformative experience of the Holy Spirit's presence among us.

You won’t want to miss out on all the amazing speakers we have lined up for the day. | | Catholic Television of San Antonio | | The Volleyball, Dodgeball & Clerics Tournament was held at the Church of the Holy Spirit May 27. The priests started off strong, stealing the win right from the seminarians’ hands in volleyball, 2-1. With peace, love and a new found motivation to win, the seminarians kept from being booted out, tying up the competition in the dodgeball tournament, winning 2-0. To settle the score, the two teams shot free throws. First team to 5 takes the championship. These men kept the game interesting, with the seminarians ultimately making the winning shot. The Vocations Office hosted this fun community event. | | Photo: Veronica Markland for Today's Catholic Newspaper | | Archbishop Gustavo celebrated a Mass for persons with disabilities on June 1 at St. Ann Church. This special liturgy honored the dignity of every person and celebrated unity in Christ. All people with disabilities and their families, friends, and caregivers were invited to the archdiocesan Disabilities Mass. This sensory-friendly liturgy included softer music, shorter Mass readings, and a stigma-free environment. Attendees were encouraged to bring any calming toys, fidgets, or accessories that might help with comfort and sensory regulation. All were welcome — gathered in love, prayer, and community.
