Message from Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller, MSpS
| | Respect for Life Month is a sacred moment that we have set aside to reflect on the precious gift of life and our call to protect it from conception to natural death. Every human life, no matter how small, vulnerable, or burdened, is the fruit of God’s love and deserves to be cherished and loved by all. Our mission as disciples of Christ is clear: we must stand for the dignity and sanctity of life in all its stages. However, we have this duty not only because He commands it to those of us who believe that Jesus is the Son of God. He commands us to do so because it is incumbent upon all mankind to care for one another. It is a natural duty of all, which is reinforced by our faith. Our Catholic faith teaches that the right to life and the dignity of the human person are foundational. This implies the unconditional protection of every human life, including those whom society may overlook or discard. We are called to stand for the vulnerable, not only by opposing threats like abortion and euthanasia but also by advocating for peace, justice, and the fair treatment of immigrants, victims of human trafficking, and all those who suffer. In a world that often devalues life, we must remain steadfast in our mission, trusting that God’s love is constant and unchanging. Our efforts may seem small in the face of the world’s challenges, but God alone suffices. With Him, even our smallest actions to protect life have infinite worth.

World Mission Sunday | October 20
World Mission Sunday unites Catholics worldwide in prayer, solidarity, and support for the Church’s mission efforts in 1,100 territories throughout the world where the Catholic Church is too young, too poor, or is actively persecuted and cannot thus be self-sufficient. As a global second collection celebrated annually on the second to last Sunday of October, this year it will be on October 20. Pope Francis chose this year's theme rooted in the Gospel of Matthew: “Go and Invite Everyone to the Banquet,” reflecting the inclusive and urgent call to share our blessings to help the Church thrive in other parts of the world. Join us in this universal mission to spread the Gospel and invite all to experience the joy of Christ’s message. Thank you for your generosity.
