Join us for this year's Assumption Seminary Gala. Help us to support the men who are discerning and journeying to the priesthood. That evening, we will also be presenting two awards, the Distinguished Alumnus Award to Father Matthew DeLeon and the Spirit Award to the Knights of Columbus Alamo Area Chapter. The Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of San Antonio start school on Wednesday, August 14.

Experience the celestial spectacle of the double solar illumination at Mission Concepción followed by Mass celebrating the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Join as we witness the annual alignment when setting sunlight passes through the church windows in a breathtaking display converging on the altar. The Franciscan Missionaries used this visual marvel and feat of engineering to honor Our Lady on the Feast of the Assumption each year. Don’t miss this fusion of theology, architecture, and astronomy! Directly following the illumination will be a special presentation at 6 p.m. by Father Dennis Schafer, OFM, as well as Mass. The doors to the church will be closed at 6:30 p.m. for a moment of silence. This event is free and open to the public. The archdiocesan Department of Catholic Schools kicked off the 2024-2025 school year the first week of August with new educators joining the ministry gathering for a day filled with energy and enthusiasm. "We are blessed to have incredibly talented educators choosing to serve the Lord in our schools,” stated the department. “We are thrilled about the upcoming school year and building relationships to keep us all connected.”
