The Holy See | Pope Francis

Message from Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller, MSpS

Most Rev. Gustavo García-Siller, MSpS

The generosity of God, which is both boundless and deeply personal, extends to each of us through Jesus Christ. God’s grace often comes to us through people in our lives who reflect His mercy, goodness, and faithfulness. We are called to give from our hearts, trusting that God will provide for us in ways we cannot foresee. Jesus challenges us to consider what it means to give fully of ourselves, in faith and humility. Jesus is our eternal Advocate, offering Himself in the heavenly sanctuary. Christ’s sacrifice is the ultimate act of love — a gift given once, for all time, which continues to open the way for us to experience the fullness of God’s grace. It reminds us that true generosity is rooted in a self-giving love, and we are encouraged to respond with our own acts of faith and service. Let us pray for the grace to reflect God’s generosity in our lives. May we offer not just what is convenient, but our whole hearts to God and each other. In doing so, may Our Lady of Guadalupe help us become vessels of God’s love, revealing His presence in the lives of those we encounter.

USCCB Plenary Assembly | Opening Remarks by Cardinal Christophe Pierre

Cardinal Christophe Pierre, apostolic nuncio to the United States' ended his opening remarks for #USCCB24 by telling the bishops: "Eucharistic Revival, a more synodal form of evangelization, a Jubilee Year of Hope, all of these experiences will produce fruit, provided that we return to the heart of Christ [....] It is there, in the heart of Christ, where we re-discover in a personal way the kerygma that we preach: Christ has become one of us, he has suffered and died to heal our wounds, he has risen, and he is alive with us now in the Spirit".

November is Black Catholic History Month

November is Black Catholic History Month and it's an opportunity to remember in a special way the heroic men and women of African descent who pioneered our Catholic faith. Six Black Americans are being considered for sainthood by the Catholic Church and any one of them will be the United States’ first Black saint. They are Julia Greeley (1840-1918), recognized as Denver’s “Angel of Charity” for her work with the poor; Mother Mary Lange (1784-1882), founder and first superior of the Oblate Sisters of Providence; Henriette DeLille (1812-1862), founder of the Sisters of the Holy Family order in New Orleans in 1842; Pierre Toussaint (1766-1853), credited as the father of Catholic Charities in New York; Thea Bowman (1937-1990), the only Black American member of the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration; and Augustus Tolton (1854-1897), the first known Black American to serve as a Catholic priest in the United States.
