Feast of St. Francis de Sales | January 24
Jan. 24 marks the Feast of St. Francis de Sales, the patron saint of writers and Christian unity whose role as a priest and bishop helped bring thousands of Protestants back to the Catholic Church.
Message from Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller, MSpS
| | | “My Lord and my God!” These words of St. Thomas echo across centuries, reminding us of the profound unity found in faith. Thomas’ journey reflects our own struggles. How often do we wrestle with doubt and division, longing for tangible signs of Christ’s presence? Yet Jesus meets Thomas not with rebuke, but with an invitation: “Put your finger here and see my hands.” In those wounds, Thomas encounters not only the reality of the Resurrection but also the boundless love that unites us as one body in Christ. Unity requires the same openness to Christ’s invitation. Like Thomas, we must approach the Lord with humility, acknowledging our need for grace and allowing Christ’s wounds — signs of sacrifice and reconciliation — to heal our divisions in society. His words, “Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed,” remind us that our shared faith transcends what divides us. It calls us to proclaim together the Risen Lord to a world yearning for hope. As we go forward, let us echo Thomas’ confession: “My Lord and my God.” May it inspire us to deepen our faith, our commitment and our witness to unity, in a world that needs it desperately. Together, may we be living witnesses to the truth that in Christ, all things are reconciled.

Southwest Liturgical Conference Study Week | February 5–8 | Victoria
This year’s Study Week theme is inspired by Gaudium et Spes, the Second Vatican Council’s “Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World,” which was promulgated 60 years ago. In it, the Church is called to have reverence for every person without exception and to see every neighbor as another self (GS 27). Each keynote and workshop presentation looks to explore how these urgent principles of the Council 60 years ago are incorporated today in the way we celebrate liturgy, catechize the faithful, initiate Christians, build, and adorn our worship spaces, and serve the People of God.
