Catholic students in Rome on Thursday bore witness to the Eucharist during a solemn procession to commemorate 25 years of its student-led adoration program.
During the April 16 procession on the campus of the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas — “the Angelicum” — students and clergy offered visible testimony to faith in the Real Presence.

| | | Brothers and sisters, the whole span of St. Mark’s life is a herald’s journey — as ours should be. In his Gospel, he tells of a young man who followed Jesus after his betrayal and arrest,“wearing nothing but a linen cloth.” The soldiers “seized him, but he left the cloth behind and ran off naked” (Mk 14:51–52). Pope St. Paul VI, following some scholars, suggested this was Mark himself. He ran, but he eventually returned. He proclaimed. Flight, resurrection, mission. Mark ran. Yet the Crucified and Risen Lord found him, turned him around, clothed him with the Holy Spirit and sent him out. This is not just history. In the Eucharist, the Risen Lord places Himself into your hands — not as symbol, but as encounter. And encounter changes us. Do you seek conversion for yourselves, your families, your communities? The altar is your starting point and your return: from there we go forth, and we come back, already tasting the heavenly Jerusalem made present each Sunday. Mark wrote one urgent Gospel that has reached millions. You will not write a Gospel — but the mercy you show others becomes a page in that living book. Go forth as heralds of a hope that does not disappoint. And may Our Lady of Guadalupe lead you there.

Our Home for the Holy Spirit: Pentecost Vigil Mass
Saturday, May 23, at 5 p.m., Church of the Holy Spirit
| | Pope Leo XIV reminds us that the Holy Spirit “takes us by the hand and enables us to experience God’s presence and closeness amid our daily lives, for he makes us his home.” The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that through his coming, the Holy Spirit adopts us as sons and daughters, gives life to our mortal bodies, and enables us to answer God’s word in freedom. This is the gift of Pentecost: the Spirit who descended upon the Apostles at the birth of the Church is the same Spirit poured into our hearts at baptism and sealed in confirmation. He is not a distant memory of a sacred moment long ago. He is a living Advocate dwelling within us, bridging distances, uniting hearts, and making us capable of Gospel witness. Two weeks from tomorrow, the local Church gathers to welcome that same Spirit in the liturgy. Join Archbishop Gustavo for the archdiocesan Vigil Mass of Pentecost at the Church of the Holy Spirit (directions). A special welcome to all who were received into the Catholic Church this past Easter through baptism, confirmation, or a Profession of Faith. The Holy Spirit who came to rest upon you in those sacred moments is the same Spirit we celebrate at Pentecost, sending us out as one Church to bear witness to the Gospel. Archbishop Gustavo invites you to join him at the Vigil Mass, along with your godparents, sponsors, family, and friends, as we move forward together, Courageous in Christ. | | |
Bread Becomes Body, Wine Becomes Blood: Archdiocesan Feast of Corpus Christ Mass and Eucharistic Procession
Saturday, June 6, at 5 p.m., at San Fernando Cathedral
| | At the heart of every Mass is a moment the Church calls, simply, the mystery of faith. In the words of consecration, bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Christ. This is not a symbol or a figure of speech. The Catechism teaches that Christ is present truly, really, and substantially in the Eucharist (CCC 1374). For 2,000 years, this teaching has been the living heartbeat of the Church, handed down faithfully from the Apostles through every generation of bishops and faithful. When we kneel before the Blessed Sacrament, we kneel before Jesus himself, the same Lord who walked the roads of Galilee, who fed the multitudes, who rose from the tomb on Easter morning and remains with us still. We invite you to mark your calendar for the archdiocesan Feast of Corpus Christi, Saturday, June 6, beginning with the 5 p.m. Vigil Mass at San Fernando Cathedral (directions) followed by a beautiful Eucharistic Procession through downtown. | | Catholic Television of San Antonio | | Photo: Valerie Perez for Catholic Television of San Antonio | | Valerie Perez of CTSA “15 on 15” met with St. Mary’s University Assistant Vice President of Alumni Engagement John Carrillo to talk all things Fiesta Oyster Bake. | | Photo: Veronica Markland for Today's Catholic Newspaper | | The biannual Region X Catholic Association of Diocesan Directors/Coordinators of the Hispanic Ministry was held at the Mexican American Catholic College April 19-21.
