Brothers and sisters:
If Christ is preached as raised from the dead,
how can some among you say there is no resurrection of the dead?
If there is no resurrection of the dead,
then neither has Christ been raised.
And if Christ has not been raised, then empty too is our preaching;
empty, too, your faith.

In many dioceses, the local celebration of World Youth Day takes place on the feast of Christ the King, Nov. 24, which is one month before Pope Francis officially opens the Jubilee Year. He's tied the two celebrations together in a message to the world's young people.
Message from Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller, MSpS

We all need healing — not just individually but also as a human family, called to care for our common home, the Earth. We live in a world that is wounded: our planet suffers from environmental degradation, and the poor and vulnerable bear the heaviest burdens. We are called to recognize the deep interconnectedness between God, humanity, and creation. Caring for the Earth is not just an environmental issue; it is a moral and spiritual responsibility. As we commit to Jesus’ mission of healing, gratitude and praise should flow from our hearts. Let us entrust ourselves to the motherly care of Our Lady of Guadalupe as we seek to follow her Son in building a world of sustainability, solidarity, and stewardship.

The Indian Catholic community of San Antonio celebrated Our Lady of Vailankanni (Our Lady of Good Health) with a Mass, procession, and lunch with Archbishop Gustavo at St. Matthew Church on September 7. Devotion to Our Lady of Good Health began in the late 16th century following three different oral accounts of the apparition of the Virgin Mary in Vailankanni, a town in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

It had been five years since Assumption Seminary last held a gala, but they are thrilled to be back with recent festivities held at the University of the Incarnate Word Skyroom September 6. With rector Father Jim Myers, PSS, at the helm, along with a distinguished council of formators, the seminary is looking toward a bright future. There are 37 accomplished and intelligent men in formation — from the Archdiocese of San Antonio to dioceses across the country — and the institution brings strong leadership and servant hearts to the Catholic Church. The Assumption Gala served as a reminder that it could not operate without the support and prayers of donors.
