Let us pray that the sacrament of the anointing of the sick grant the Lord’s strength to those who receive it and to their loved ones, and that it may become for everyone an ever more visible sign of compassion and hope.
Message from Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller, MSpS
| | Original sin consisted of trying to be like God by distrusting God and turning away from his will. In Genesis we see the immediate consequences of original sin. After Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit, they felt shame and fear. They seemed very brave in wanting to be like God and defying his will, but not so brave in having to account for their actions. This passage highlights the human tendency to avoid responsibility for our actions and shift the blame to others. This is a fundamental aspect of sin: it fractures relationships, not only with God but also with each other. It is essential to recognize our own sins and failures, and take responsibility for them instead of hiding them or blaming others. There is a radical difference between the feelings experienced by those who avoid responsibility and those who recognize it, while awaiting God’s judgment. God's forgiveness is always available to us if we approach him with a contrite heart. Let’s take responsibility for our actions. Let us trust in the abundant mercy of God. Let us open ourselves to inner renewal through faith. Let us embrace our spiritual family in Christ doing the will of God.
