He aquí que mi siervo prosperará,
será engrandecido y exaltado,
será puesto en alto.
Muchos se horrorizaron al verlo,
porque estaba desfigurado su semblante,
que no tenía ya aspecto de hombre;
pero muchos pueblos se llenaron de asombro.
Ante él los reyes cerrarán la boca,
porque verán lo que nunca se les había contado
y comprenderán lo que nunca se habían imaginado.

Message of His Holiness Pope Francis to Young People for the Fifth Anniversary of the Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation “Christus Vivit”
|
Dear young people,
Christ is alive and he wants you to be alive! This certainty always makes my heart overflow with joy, and now it inspires me to write you this Message, five years after the publication of the Apostolic Exhortation Christus Vivit, the fruit of the Assembly of the Synod of Bishops that had as its theme: “Young People, the Faith and Vocational Discernment”.

Message from Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller, MSpS
| | There are many people who had everything to recognize in Jesus the only Son of God, but they refused to see. From His humanity, our Lord can review in his mind all the miraculous signs that He did in the presence of the people. He can remember the signs He gave that the entire history of Israel - the entire Scripture - refers to Him. He knows the hearts of everyone. He knows what each person lacks to recognize Him as their Savior and know the love of God. Even the disciples, after living with Jesus for three years, cannot believe. In the end, they kept thinking that the Lord would be a kingly political leader. They could not get the idea of glory and power and wealth out of their minds. How can they not understand? Could it be that, in the eyes of Jesus, neither do we recognize Him as He wants? Could it be that our own idea of God has prevented us from relating to Jesus as closely as He desires? We want the glory without the sacrifice. Each of us can ask ourselves: How does Jesus see my little faith?

The event began at the intersection of Guadalupe and Brazos Street and proceeded to Hemisfair Park. Community, civic leaders, and elected officials take part in the event, which has been a time to engage in civic participation and advocating. The annual march is co-sponsored by the City of San Antonio and this year’s theme was, “Let the Spirit Flourish and Grow.” The CECLEF Scholarship Fund has awarded more than $300,000 in scholarships to graduating high school seniors in Bexar County pursuing a college, university, or vocational degree. The Archdiocese of San Antonio is celebrating the 150th anniversary of its establishment as a diocese in 2024 with a variety of observances. Prior to the Holy Week Chrism Mass with priests of the archdiocese, held March 26 at Holy Spirit Church, Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller, MSpS, and three members of the archdiocese elaborated on the spirit of unity and joy that will be the hallmark of the many events and activities in this celebratory year, especially the Archdiocesan Assembly to be held Saturday, Oct. 26. The comments from Sister Bernadette Mota, FMA, Mission Advancement Director for the Salesian Sisters Western Province; as well as Philip and Julia Hamon, executive chairs for the Hope for the Future’s Khaki & Plaid Gala 2024; addressed the presence of consecrated life and their spiritual and servant leadership for a century-and-a-half; how vibrant religious communities continue to enhance the local Church today; the role of Catholic education in nurturing the faith and spiritual development of generations of Catholics; and the impact of Catholic schools on promoting and preserving culturally diverse traditions and customs.
Saint of the Day - Saint Nicholas Owen
Nicholas, familiarly known as “Little John,” was small in stature but big in the esteem of his fellow Jesuits. Born at Oxford, this humble artisan saved the lives of many priests and laypersons in England during the penal times (1559-1829), when a series of statutes punished Catholics for the practice of their faith. Over a period of about 20 years, Nicholas used his skills to build secret hiding places for priests throughout the country....
