Message from Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller, MSpS
| | I am filled with immense gratitude for the blessings of our past and excitement for the bright future that lies ahead. What we experienced at the archdiocesan Assembly brings us HOPE. On Christmas eve, Pope Francis will inaugurate the Ordinary Jubilee Year -- Pilgrims of Hope. The Holy Father has said: “Everyone knows what it is to hope. In the heart of each person, hope dwells as the desire and expectation of good things to come, despite our not knowing what the future may bring.” We can rest on such certitude. As we reflect on the many blessings of our past, we are filled with gratitude for all who have come before us -- those whose faith, courage, and sacrifice have made this moment possible. At the same time, we look to the future with great hope and excitement, confident that the Holy Spirit will continue to guide us in new ways. May we remain united in faith, committed to our mission, and ever grateful for the opportunity to serve one another and the world around us. We will look forward to this jubilee year while we journey together towards the centennial anniversary of the elevation of San Antonio as Metropolitan Archdiocese in 2026. At that time we will discern and proclaim a renewed Pastoral Vision inspired by our continued local synodal process and the contributions of everyone. Together, we will continue to build a future full of hope, inspired by “Encountering Christ,” “United as Church,” and “Sent by the Spirit.” Ven, Holy Spirit, Ven! God bless you all!

National Vocation Awareness Week (NVAW) is November 3-9
National Vocation Awareness Week (NVAW), celebrated November 3-9, is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations. NVAW began in 1976 when the U. S. bishops designated the 28th Sunday of the year for NVAW. In 1997, this celebration was moved to coincide with the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, which falls on January 13 in 2013. Beginning in 2014, NVAW was moved to the first full week of November.
