Message from Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller, MSpS
| | Jesus Christ, God Incarnate, is the definitive covenant between God and humanity. In Him, justice and mercy are united. The entire universe, all of history, everything that exists and happens, is subject to the saving and redeeming action of the Lord. Jesus Christ is the fire that purifies those who surrender to His tenderness, manifested in the weak and marginalized of the world. Before His gaze, all falsehood collapses. Those who refuse to receive the Lord’s mercy and refuse to recognize Him in those who need food, clothing, shelter, liberation or healing, feel tortured by his fire. The encounter with Jesus burns us, transforms us and frees us from the bonds of envy and contempt for each other. The pain of love becomes our joy. Our King makes us who we are truly called to be. The reign of Christ does not end at the walls of the parish or the domestic church. The encounter with the Lord in the sacraments — through participation in Holy Mass or by living family and marriage life with a Christian spirit — is only the starting point. As we allow the judgment of the Lord in our conscience to make love prevail in us over all evil, the fire of Christ will expand to set other hearts on fire by the work of the Holy Spirit.

A Time of Waiting and Hope
|
"Advent invites us to a commitment to vigilance, looking beyond ourselves, expanding our mind and heart in order to open ourselves up to the needs of people, of brothers and sisters, and to the desire for a new world." — Pope Francis, Angelus, 2018.
The Advent season is a time of preparation that directs our hearts and minds to Christ’s second coming at the end of time and to the anniversary of Our Lord’s birth on Christmas. Learn more about the Advent season as we invite you to begin the journey by following the USCCB 2023 Daily Advent Calendar. (Spanish version)
