| | | Volunteers serve, organize, and show up before dawn and stay long after dark. That humility is not a weakness. It is the very door through which the Holy Spirit enters and gives more than was asked. You come to give, and you discover you have received the greater gift. Service does not deplete you; it returns to you transformed. Pope Leo XIV, speaking to volunteers, called every act of service “a responsibility that consecrates every encounter with another as a kairós, a unique and unrepeatable moment of grace in which to love, which must not be lost or postponed.” Every hour you have given has been exactly that — a kairós, a moment that could not wait, and one that has already begun to heal someone’s life, perhaps even your own. Giving makes us aware that we are visible to the Lord’s eyes. Your volunteer hours are not generosity flowing in one direction, but an exchange of love in which, trying to become visible to God, you become more aware of God’s presence to you. Let your service become part of offertory at the Eucharist — handed over, blessed, broken open for others, and somehow multiplied. So here is the word for the road ahead: keep saying yes, quietly, faithfully, without needing to be seen — for one humble word, spoken in trust, can move the heart of God. Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mother of the lowly, teach us to serve as your Son has served — with one word, one heart, one love.

Monthly Community Camino
Saturday, July 11, from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m., from Mission Concepción to Mission San José
| | Let’s walk together again. Join us as we walk along the San Antonio River from Mission Concepción to Mission San José. Walk in appreciation for the women and men who serve our country as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States, remember the rich heritage of the missions, woven into the fabric of our country, and rejoice in the beauty of the natural world that surrounds us. Along this journey of reflection, prayer, and celebration, we are reminded that faith calls us not only to appreciate God’s blessings but also to share them with others. In that spirit, we invite each pilgrim to bring a canned good to support a local food pantry, extending Christ’s love and care to neighbors in need. Come walk with us. Check in begins at 6 a.m. at the Padre Margil Pilgrimage Center (directions). | | Catholic Television of San Antonio | | Photo: Veronica Markland | Today's Catholic Newspaper | | St. Mary’s University has announced a new high school dual credit partnership with Holy Cross of San Antonio during a signing ceremony June 23 at the St. Mary’s Welcome Center. Beginning this Fall, qualifying Holy Cross juniors and seniors will be able to take dual credit courses on the St. Mary’s University campus, earning both high school and college credit. Students may take up to two courses per semester, not to exceed eight credit hours per semester, with a maximum of 29 credit hours available through the program. St. Mary’s University currently partners with the other four Catholic high schools in San Antonio to offer dual credit courses on the high school campuses. This new partnership with Holy Cross marks the first time St. Mary’s will welcome dual credit students to take courses on the university’s campus rather than at their high school. Courses will be held during the school day and will include a range of offerings approved by the university, including many in the liberal arts. Fall 2026 course options include U.S. government, algebra, history, environmental science, criminal justice, global affairs, philosophy, Spanish, theology, literature and more. | | Catholic Charites, Archdiocese of San Antonio, Inc. hosted the Hope for the Hill Country distribution event at Notre Dame School June 27. As the Hill Country community marks one year since the devastating disaster, Catholic Charities, remains committed to supporting affected families through ongoing assistance. Recognizing that recovery is a long-term process, the organization continues to provide food assistance, household supplies, and gift cards to pre-registered households impacted by the disaster. “Our work does not end after the immediate aftermath,” said Ada Saenz, president/CEO of Catholic Charities. “We are here to support Hill Country families throughout their recovery and beyond.” For more information regarding this event or to learn about the ongoing programs and services provided by Catholic Charities visit the website www.ccaosa.org | |
