Letter of the Holy Father to a group of migrants gathered in Lajas Blancas, Panama
|
Dear migrants,
I would like to be there with you at this time. I too am the son of migrants who set out in search of a better future. There were moments in which they found themselves with nothing, to the point of suffering from hunger, empty-handed, but with their hearts full of hope.

Message from Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller, MSpS
| | We struggle to trust in God’s mercy. However, we often accuse ourselves against God’s mercy. The dynamic of sin may seem as opposed to the dynamic of accusation and condemnation, but in fact they are two sides of the same coin. Those who judge and condemn the sinner are the sinners themselves. Despite our best efforts, we remain imperfect. The same happens to society; our laws are always perfectible. Human nature always finds the necessary loopholes for injustice. We falsely justify ourselves, and we condemn ourselves. Justice, on the other hand, is always a work in progress, but above all, it is a gift. It is received through an effort shared with unwavering enthusiasm for the promotion of good, of the common good. As the condition for peace, justice is not merely the resolution of conflict, but the work of the Holy Spirit, who unties the knots in our hearts. Jesus asks us to listen and forgive, seeking truth, justice, and peace, persevering with creativity. He asks us to trust wholeheartedly. It is often not easy or satisfying, but we must put our faith in God first.

Parish support program for Mental Health Ministry | Application Deadline: March 29
|
Mental health issues afflict more than one in five U.S. adults, and one in three youth or adolescents. At this important time, the Church can walk with those who are struggling in a special way. Our parishes can be welcoming homes for the people of God to be cared for, especially those who are feeling pain and experiencing brokenness. This spring, the archdiocese will invite parishes to apply for grants of up to $2,000 to support parish-based Mental Health Ministries. Parishes may use funds for training of a ministry team, gatherings, signage and hospitality, emergency preparedness materials, and any other needs that support formation or ongoing efforts for mental health ministry.

Youth Spectacular 2024: Revealed | Saturday, April 13
| |
|
Join us for Youth Spectacular 2024: Revealed at St. Mary’s University (1 Camino Santa Maria, SA TX 78228) from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. where teens will experience the ways in which God reveals himself to us through community, prayer, service, and sacraments. The cost is $25 per person, which includes admission, lunch, dinner, and an event T-shirt. Registrations must be completed by the youth minister at your parish. Those interested in participating should contact their parish’s youth minister to register.
We believe that God is present and active in the sacraments, particularly in the Eucharist. When the faithful gather as a community to celebrate Mass, we encounter the living Christ in the assembly, the Word, and the sacrament of the Eucharist. Jesus reveals God the Father in the sacraments through his institution of these sacred rituals, their ability to give divine grace, and their representation of the presence and action of God in the life of the believer.

The Congregation of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit marked the 100th anniversary of their foundation with a liturgy at St. Vincent de Paul Church on March 16, with Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller, MSpS, as the presider and Auxiliary Bishop Gary Janak and about a dozen other priests serving as concelebrants. A century ago, in the times of the religious persecution in Mexico, the Venerable Father Felix de Jesus, Missionary of the Holy Spirit, and Servant of God Ana Maria del Espiritu Santo Gomez Campos, founded the Congregation of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit on Jan. 12, 1924, in San Luis Potosi with the purpose of extending the Kingdom of the Holy Spirit and cultivating priestly vocations among the People of God.
Saint of the Day - Saint Nicholas Owen
Nicholas, familiarly known as “Little John,” was small in stature but big in the esteem of his fellow Jesuits. Born at Oxford, this humble artisan saved the lives of many priests and laypersons in England during the penal times (1559-1829), when a series of statutes punished Catholics for the practice of their faith. Over a period of about 20 years, Nicholas used his skills to build secret hiding places for priests throughout the country....
