Upcoming Provincial Election
The upcoming Provincial election is taking place on April 16, 2019!
In the lead up to the election, we are wondering, "what will the next government do for our lakes, reservoirs, and their watersheds?"
We did a scan of the four major political parties' platforms or websites for the terms "lakes", "reservoirs", and "watersheds". Here's what we could find:
The Liberal Party
: funding all watershed councils to develop land use planning documents and developing land use plans based on their recommendations.
The NDP: have specified a Clean Lakes Strategy and stable multi-year funding for Watershed Planning and Advisory Councils.
Let's find out what each of the parties has in store for our water!
If you find yourself at a political forum, try asking your candidates:
"What are your plans to monitor and manage Alberta's lakes, reservoirs, and their watersheds?"
