Focusing on Sunday

In this week’s gospel story, Jesus questions Peter about his true intentions. When I read this story and spend some time contemplating the story by putting myself in Peter’s sandals, I hear that central question to the Apostle Peter:  “Do you love Jesus?”  And my initial, off-the-cuff answer is “Yes, of course I do . . . that’s why I was ordained a priest.”
But then I spend some time going deeper into what this mission actually looks like: countless meetings, difficult money matters, transformational sacramental moments, heart-wrenching burials, healing encounters, strategic planning, diocesan dealings, stubborn colleagues, inspiring music, melancholy moments, prayer gatherings, joyful fellowship, tedious church politics, life-changing pastoral exchanges, resurrection encounters. . . All this is the gift of our local parish family.
On some level, we all seek to respond with Peter: “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” And Jesus’ response remains consistent: “Then feed and tend my sheep.” Or as the Book of Common Prayer says about our mission: “… to love and serve … caring alike for young and old, strong and weak, rich and poor.”  (BCP, page 531.)

Where are you in this story?
Wishing you peace and many blessings,
Let us go forth to love and to serve!
Stewardship and Pledge Campaign Update

Many thanks to all who have responded to our 2022 Pledge Campaign by sending in your plans for supporting St. Raphael's here on Ft. Myers Beach and beyond - in our mission of
Healing, Hope & Hospitality

The goal set for this campaign is $140 thousand –
at the present we’ve reached $89,120.

We've heard from many of our "major givers" - and would love to hear from more! But remember that a Stewardship pledge need not be a huge amount – the important thing is your support of and participation in St. Raphael’s and our ministries.  The amount is whatever is right for you!

Some pledges are paid in one check, annually – but many are more comfortably paid regularly throughout the year – weekly, monthly, quarterly.
So if you’ve not yet returned your pledge card – it’s not too late!!!
No Pledge Card? No Problem.

You can submit your pledge in any of the following ways:

Praying with us for St. Raphael's and her mission ...

Loving God, through your grace guide us, the people of St. Raphael's, to joyfully carry out our mission of growing faith in your son, Jesus Christ. Fill us with your Holy Spirit that we may develop a living faith that deepens our understanding of you and strengthens our awareness of the needs of others. May we be a transforming light within our parish and within the community.
All this we ask in the name of your Son, Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
