Focusing on Sunday -- Good Shepherd Sunday

Today’s Psalm 23 has to be an all time favorite for most of us. For many of us, these are comforting words that we learned by heart early on. For many of us these words have carried us through difficult times – through times of joy and times of sadness. These words have become an inner voice of assurance . . . protection . . . security  . . . belonging. . .

Jesus is the Good Shepherd who lays down his life for the sheep. He knows his sheep by name and he leads them beside the still waters. So with Jesus as the shepherd – that means we are the sheep. "We are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand.”

Have you ever known a sheep personally?
How do you feel about being the sheep???

See you Sunday!

Confirmation, Reception, Reaffirmation:
Which is right for you?

Confirmation is a mature, public affirmation of your faith, celebrated by the prayers and laying on of hands by our bishop. It is a celebration of your baptism and your desire to live out your faith in the Episcopal Church. If you were baptized as a child (or in any denomination) but never did confirmation, this rite is for you.

Reception is for those who have been baptized and confirmed in a Christian denomination that has a ritual of confirmation (such as Methodists, Catholics or Lutherans) and now wish to join the Episcopal Church.

Reaffirmation of Faith is for those who have been baptized and confirmed in the Episcopal Church, but now wish to commit to a "fresh start."

If you'd like to learn more please talk to Mother Jean. Let's gather together as a group of inquirers and ask questions and explore the possibilities. Now is the time to start preparing for the Bishop's visitation to St. Raphael's!

The Bishop's Annual Visitation to St. Raphael's is on the calendar:
November 20, 2022
Hope through Healing and Hospitality

Our Healing team at St. Raphael's serves
  • to pray for those who ask for our prayers -- personally, in the weekly Intercessor Prayer group, and in community worship on Sunday mornings
  • to strengthen parish relationships by practicing honest, caring conversations and nurturing healthy relationships
  • to pray and anoint in the healing chapel (after you receive Communion on Sunday morning)
Our Hospitality team at St. Raphael's serves
  • To reaffirm and strengthen St. Raphael's welcome practices
  • To explore new dimensions of radical welcome that deepen parish community transformation and expand engagement to the wider community
  • to reimagine and rebuild our parish-community care network (pastoral care) as a robust pastoral hospitality ministry
  • to welcome our neighbors

Praying with us for St. Raphael's and her mission ...

Loving God, through your grace guide us, the people of St. Raphael's, to joyfully carry out our mission of growing faith in your son, Jesus Christ. Fill us with your Holy Spirit that we may develop a living faith that deepens our understanding of you and strengthens our awareness of the needs of others. May we be a transforming light within our parish and within the community.
All this we ask in the name of your Son, Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
