As 2025 comes to an end, our hearts are full from a year of great work, great clients, and a great team. A team who has recently changed (you’ll read more about if you don’t already know). A team who’s finishing up some award-winning work and fun, holiday-related spots. A team who’s ready for some much needed R&R and holiday cheer to round out the season.
We hope each of you has a wonderful holiday season and the rest of your 2025. We look forward to good times, good health, and more great work heading into 2026!
| Long live Charlie Clement. Charlie Clement has retired. | We got to celebrate the career, and more importantly, the man, on Thursday, December 4th. Gary Richardson supplied the music, Phil the magician popped in, and a crowd of around 50 people toasted the man of honor. If you’re getting this then you know how great Charlie is creatively, professionally, and personally. He has expressly requested we all call him at odd times during the night just to keep him alert (this is a joke, please do not call Charlie between 9pm and 5am) . | We love him. We miss him. That Charlie Clement is a pretty great guy. | Burgess welcomes Cory Schnaible to the team! | Cory Schnaible has joined Burgess Advertising as our Creative Director. Your paths may have crossed when he was writing for Garrand, Kemp Goldberg, or Ethos (Cory even spent some time working for WMTW). He brings over 20 years of experience working on breakthrough creative for a number of clients including Boston University, Community Health Options, Gifford’s HomeMaine Ice Cream, Hershey’s Chocolate Milk, Naloxone, Sylvania, Maine CDC, and many more. When he's not here, Cory is Chief Snack Officers for his awesome twin daughters. | He’s grateful for the opportunity to work with such awesome client partners and a ridiculously talented team. 2026 is going to be a banner year for all of us, we’re ready to do great things together! | "High-risk cancer genetics" campaign wins gold. Again. | |
We are very proud to announce our gold wins with New England Cancer Specialists at the 42nd Annual Healthcare Advertising Awards. Our High Risk Cancer Genetics work won gold in the Integrated Marketing Campaign and Online Display Ad categories. Out of 4,300 submissions only 431 pieces won gold, making these honors especially remarkable. It’s a campaign that continues to win awards, proof that excellent strategy and creative finds a way to be seen.
Check out the multi-media campaign here.
| New England Cancer Specialists (NECS) Marketing Director Seth Blanchard, Retired Burgess Creative Director Charlie Clement, and Jessica Fidalgo, NECS Marketing & Communications Specialist pose with their Gold Healthcare Advertising Awards. | We made something fun with MaineDOT…about holiday shopping in downtown Waterville. | Context is key here. Maine Department of Transportation is working hard on the multi-year Ticonic Bridge Project. But with progress can come short-term challenges, one being traffic flow into downtown Waterville and all of the fantastic small businesses that make it so great for the holidays. So, we made a spot highlighting a handful of these fantastic places, using symmetry to show how picture perfect a stroll through downtown can be. | |

As the sun sets on 2025, I have so many reasons to be thankful for the year that had many great ups and sadly, some downs.
It’s been months, and I’m still trying to process the heaviness of the loss—this summer, Oliver Payne passed away. Oliver was one of the four original partners that incorporated Burgess, Brewer, Stanyon & Payne on December 1, 1986. He was part of BBS&P, which then became Burgess Advertising & Marketing in 1991, for 36 years, retiring in 2022. He is deeply missed by so many who worked with him and enjoyed his company, especially his wife Martha. If you happened to miss his obituary, read it here.
| But you know what? Oliver would not like ending a letter on such a down note, so in his honor, from all of us here, have a healthy and happy holiday and a very merry new year. We’ll see you there! | |
