Dear Friend,

Thank you for being part of The Next Chapter. Your support is making something real and lasting happen for Walla Walla, and this month, there’s a lot to share!

Campaign Update

We’re excited to share that we’ve now raised nearly $12.5 million, 78% of our $16 million goal. Every contribution, of every size, is moving us closer to a transformed library for our community. If you haven’t had a chance to give, we’d love you to join us.

Project Update: Delayed but Still Moving Forward

Last month, we let you know that our project has been delayed by 6-8 weeks, but we’re still moving forward with our vision for the library. As a result, the library’s temporary move and the library send-off party will be rescheduled. We will share updated timing as soon as it is confirmed. Read the full project update here.

Matilde Has Left the Building

With the renovation on the horizon, the Matilde statue had to be temporarily moved to make room for the expanded building. Read more about her move to greener pastures here.

Hayden Homes Contributes to The Next Chapter Campaign

We’re excited to share that Hayden Homes has made a generous $100,000 gift to The Next Chapter campaign to create the new Hayden Homes Creativity Center. This dedicated space in the renovated library will be designed for young people to explore, create, and feel a sense of belonging.

"The new Hayden Homes Creativity Center will open doors for so many young people in our community," said Library Director Heather VanTassell. "It's about more than art. It's about creating a space where youth feel they belong, where they can be inspired, supported, and excited to learn."

We are deeply grateful to Hayden Homes for believing in what this library means to our future generations. Read the full press release here.

Upcoming Event:

Vital Wines on May 7

Have you had a chance to see the designs for the renovations? Curious about what types of features and changes you can expect at the library? You are invited to join us for a casual gathering next Thursday, May 7 at Vital Wines from 4:30 to 6:00 pm. We’ll provide an update on the project, and you’ll have the opportunity to meet other community members interested in the renovation and hear about ways you can get involved. Space is limited, so please RSVP to amy@wwplfund.org before Monday, May 4.

Community Voices: Why I Support the Library

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported bringing this vision to life. And to our newest donors who have recently joined The Next Chapter Campaign, your generosity means the world to us and to this community. Here’s why one of our donors has chosen to invest in this campaign:

“My husband and I love Walla Walla and believe strongly that a vibrant and healthy community must have resources that encourage learning, creativity, connection and be accessible to everyone. As it’s been said, our library is the heart of this community, and our community is the heart of our library. We want to help support its place in Walla Walla for generations to come.”

Every gift writes this story with us. Thank you for being a part of it.
