Holiday Message From The Section Chair
Whew! How did we get to November already with the holiday season just around the corner? I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for spaghetti and meatballs! You read that right, spaghetti and meatballs! That’s my family’s Thanksgiving tradition along with watching Auburn beat up on Alabama the following weekend. Oh wait, maybe that football part is a dream vs reality. We usually pick an overwhelming home improvement project (like tiling the kitchen floor) to throw in there somewhere too. So much for “slowing down” over the holidays.

Many of you in the water industry don’t get to slow down over the holidays because you’re out there doing the important, 24/7, rain or shine work to keep water flowing to your customers. Or perhaps you’re putting in long hours to meet some ridiculous deadline set by some ridiculous client. This work often goes unnoticed and unappreciated especially by people outside the water industry. On behalf of myself and the Board of Trustees, I want to express my sincerest gratitude to all of you for the hard work you do and the valuable contributions and support you provide to the water industry and our Section.

Whatever your holiday traditions may be, I hope this year’s celebrations are the best ever and include time with family and friends. COVID finally seems to be in the rear view, so let’s party like it’s 2019!

Happy Holidays Y’all!
Michelle Cheek
Section Chair

PS – I know the holidays may not be happy or joyful for all of you. Maybe you’ve recently lost a loved one, struggling with other personal issues, or spending time with family that you don’t actually like (we all have that one person, right?). My heart goes out to you, and I hope there are moments of happiness and joy in there somewhere. Hang in there!

Subsection Membership Challenge
September 1 - December 31
The challenge is on! PNWS is launching a friendly competition between the Subsections to see who can recruit the most new members from Sept 1 – December 31st, to help PNWS reach our annual recruitment goal of 293 new members in 2022.

The Subsection with the most new or reinstated members over that time will get a free lunch catered for their next Subsection meeting, social or in-person training.

The Membership Engagement and Development Committee (MEDC) will send out monthly updates on the competition on new members in your subsection and how close we are to meeting the PNWS goal. Its time to put your networks to use and invite new members to join the AWWA community! Share the AWWA membership link far and wide, and lets meet our goal!  Join American Water Works Association (awwa.org)

Questions about the challenge, membership benefits or how to join, contact MEDC Chair Joanie Stultz, or Past Chair, Chris Young.
