November 2019 eGrapevine
Station 1
On November 5, voters will be presented with a .83 mil bond levy. Passage of this levy will fund a fire station with modern, efficient, planned operational space for the fire department.

Bi-directional bays in the proposed new station will house the 4 vehicles currently in Station 1 along with :

  • One bay for the emergency off road vehicle with trailer currently housed in the red barn across from Station 1
  • One bay for the 3rd response ambulance currently parked at the Concord Service Garage
  • One bay for the Command vehicle which is currently parked outside due to lack of space
Valuable equipment, such as the air compressor, which provides safe breathing air for the firefighters’ lifelines – their SCBAs - will be moved out of the vehicle bays into a dedicated space free from contaminants. A new station includes decontamination and clean areas for firefighter gear to be kept.

I n a new fire station, EMS equipment, now kept adjacent to the vehicle bays, will be placed in a clean room. A new Fire Station # 1 will bring equipment, fire prevention personnel and vehicles which are presently spread out in 4 different locations under 1 roof. Administrative and fire prevention offices, firefighter living quarters and training areas have all been carefully incorporated into the new station plans – a fire station with planned operational space which provides a safe environment for firefighters and improved emergency response for the Concord community. Issue #1.
