Bereavement Leave Policy
We have taken into consideration the personal needs that arise from the death of an immediate family member. You will be allowed leave for up to three days with full pay until and including the day of the funeral. Should you wish to attend a funeral that requires significant out-of-town travel (over 500 miles from your home), you may request an extension to the standard three-day bereavement leave of up to two days of paid leave.
Funeral leave pay will not be granted to employees attending a funeral during periods when, for other reasons, they are not at work, such as vacation, holidays, and illness. Immediate family is understood to include father, mother, step-parents, spouse, domestic partner, child, step-child, sister, brother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and grandparents. If you request Bereavement Leave, you may be asked to provide evidence that a death has occurred in your immediate family.
