The OLMA Overview -- December 1, 2017
And just like that, it's December! I hope you all enjoyed Thanksgiving and are excited for the joy and magic of Christmas yet to come. Thanks to the efforts of our parent team of decorators, OLMA is looking very festive. Our halls are decked out with wreaths, bows, strings of beads, and more. Our lobby Christmas tree is spectacular, and our outside lights  are brightening up Main Road. OLMA Advent Angels are taking care of our lockers and they look better than ever!

Next week is our Junior Ring Mass -- a long-time tradition at OLMA. Both the Mass and reception for juniors and their families will take place on Friday, December 8 beginning at 8:30 am . On December 13, all are welcome to our Penance Service as we prepare for our Lord's birth.

The week of December 18th is a short one and features mid-term exams. They will be held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, with a make-up day on Thursday if needed. We will dismiss at 12:30 PM on those days.

In the meantime, we invite you to visit and hope you will join us for Ring Mass and the Penance Service. Here's to a festive weekend! -- Mrs. Coyle

Student Spotlight
Madeline Grant, Class of 2019
Madeline Grant has had a whirlwind junior year so far. New school, new friends, new routines, and a trip to the National Catholic Youth Conference held recently in Indianapolis, IN. As busy as she is, she wouldn't have it any other way.

Madeline joined OLMA this fall after homeschooling for grades 8-10. She stepped right in and, in no time, felt right at home. Madeline credits her smooth transition to the special atmosphere at OLMA. "When I decided to go back to a regular school, I wanted to find something that wasn't too big," said Madeline. "As soon as I shadowed I knew OLMA was the place for me. So many people think that all-girls schools are very catty. I guess some may be, but that's definitely not the case here. Everyone is extremely welcoming and friends span all grades."

Madeline said that what she likes most are OLMA's many traditions -- from Sisterhood days, to Advent Angels, Ring Mass, and more. "I'm having a great time being an Advent Angel," she said. "It's fun seeing everyone really getting into it and enjoying the season."

When she's not in school, Madeline is very active in her Church. She serves as part of the core leadership team for the Our Lady of Peace youth group. That position paved the way for her to become part of the Diocese of Camden's Youth Group. She was recently selected to attend the National Catholic Youth Conference where she introduced two of its featured speakers. "It was a great experience and I met people from all over," she said. "My favorite part was Holy Hour when 24,000 of us were packed into Giant's Stadium and in total silence." Very cool.

This time next week, Madeline and her classmates will be celebrating Junior Ring Mass. When it comes to OLMA traditions, this is a big one, Madeline. Get set to share in a day of sisterhood that you will never forget.

Thanks for making us proud in Indianapolis. We are so glad you're here.

OLMA Puts the Happy in Thanksgiving
OLMA students and families donated over 1,000 food items and 8 turkeys for families who needed some happy to go with their Thanksgiving. In partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of Vineland and the Rotary Club of Tri-County, 22 families took home bushels full of food, each topped with a turkey! OLMA students helped assemble the bushels at the Boys & Girls Club. It was a great afternoon in service to others!

A special congratulations to the Class of 2020 for collecting the most items! A free dress down day is coming your way!
Let's Luau and Earn a Day Off!
You may not be able to get to Hawaii in February, but we can bring it to you -- well, almost! On Saturday, February 24, the OLMA Parents Society will hold the Annual 50-50 Drawing Party -- the school's largest fundraiser of the year. This year's theme is -- you guessed it -- a Luau Party! Only 400 tickets will be sold and we're more than halfway there already. Our goal is to be sold out by the time we break for Christmas on December 20. If we're successful, Mrs. Coyle will give us an extra day off in the new year! So...pretty please...buy your tickets?

They are available at a cost of $100 each and include dinner for two at the drawing party and the chance to win up to $10,000. We also hope you will consider lending your support in the form of an item for our Tricky Tray Auction and/or a cash donation. Any and all support is greatly appreciated.

Find out more and reserve your winning ticket today!
There's No Better Time to SHOPAROO!
If ever there was a time of year when we do a lot of shopping and hold onto our receipts just in case, it's Christmas. This year, as you stash your receipts for safe keeping, snap a photo of them first using the Shoparoo App -- and earn points to be redeemed for cash by OLMA.

It's easy and, dare I say, fun! Simply
  1. Download the free Shoparoo app (already in use by 10,000+ schools)
  2. Snap pictures of our receipts (every receipt counts)
  3. Earn cash for OLMA as Shoparoo makes a donation for every receipt you submit

In addition, your receipts will earn OLMA entries into Shoparoo’s $1,000 monthly sweepstakes drawings. That’s all there is to it. Plus, there’s no limit to how much money we can raise. The more people who use the app, the better. Go to  shoparoo.com  to get started!

P.S. -- The junior class is in the lead so far this year with more than 4,500 points. Who can beat them?

Have You Ordered SCRIP Yet?
Thanks to the volunteer efforts of freshmen parent, Mikilyn Hiles, the SCRIP program at OLMA has a new spring in its step! Never heard of it before? No worries! SCRIP is a great way to earn extra cash for OLMA and for your daughter. All you need to do is purchase gift cards for the places where you shop through the SCRIP program. You pay face value and the school gets a percentage back. That percentage (varies by retailer) is split between OLMA and your family. Orders are placed each Friday and vouchers will be sent home monthly! For more information, please call or text Mrs. Hiles at 609-675-6706.

P.S. -- THE LAST ORDER BEFORE CHRISTMAS WILL BE PLACED ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 15! CARDS WILL BE READY ON WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 20. CHECK OUT THE LOW-DENOMINATION CARDS AVAILABLE FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON!
