The OLMA Overview -- September 20, 2019
Believe it or not, we are rounding the bend toward the end of September. By now, all students should be settled into their new routines and focused on their academic classes. Faculty members look forward to giving parents a glimpse into a day in the life of their daughters at next week's Back-to-School Night. It's a great opportunity to meet teachers, fellow parents and find out how you can get more involved in the life of our school. We look forward to seeing you. We will begin in Carew Hall at 6:30 PM.

We are expecting a full house for this year's Communion Breakfast and Sisterhood Ceremony on Sunday, October 6. It's a special morning that you won't soon forget. All students who attend Mass in uniform may dress down on Monday, October 7th. Please purchase your tickets (see below) as soon as possible so that we can provide an accurate headcount to our caterer.

Our fall athletes continue to excel! Tomorrow, our Cross Country Team will race against Rancocas Valley at the Eastampton Sports Complex. We begin next week with home games on Monday for the Soccer, Field Hockey, Volleyball, and Tennis teams. That makes it a great day to be on campus to support our athletes. I hope to see you out there.

Until then, I wish you a fantastic final weekend of summer. Mother Nature looks like she is sending some nearly perfect weather our way. Enjoy it. -- Mrs. Coyle
Student Spotlight: Maya Lee
Class of 2022
Some might say that Maya Lee's arrival at OLMA as a sophomore this year was pure fate. While she wasn't completely happy at her old school she didn't have any immediate plans to make a move.

That all changed last year in the most unexpected of places. "I was running late to a field hockey scrimmage between my school and OLMA," said Maya. "When I arrived, my coach told me that OLMA was short one player so I volunteered to join them so we could still play the game. I was a little nervous at first, but the girls treated me like I was part of their team and we had a great time." That's when the wheels started turning.

"I liked where I was, but wasn't challenged at all academically," said Maya. "Then I found out more about OLMA from my club team, Five Star Field Hockey, and liked what I heard. I decided to check it out and shadowed for a day. That's all it took. When I got home I told my mom that I had to come here."

Mom made it happen and the rest is history. Maya says that she loves all of her classes so far and is definitely challenged, especially in Chemistry. "I'm also taking an online course for the first time," she said. "It takes some getting used to, but it's going well so far." She is also making her mark as part of the Field Hockey Team. "Our team is new, but the girls are really good," she said. "We're surprising people and that's fun. We have a great coach and play hard every day."

Looking ahead to this year, Maya is excited to participate in Sisterhood Day and other OLMA traditions. She's also anxiously awaiting word on this year's Mini-Mester choices. For now, she's focused on her studies and on finishing the Field Hockey season strong. We are so glad you're here, Maya!
Who Dunnit?
That's what the members of Mrs. Steiger's Forensics Club were asked to figure out. They arrived for their meeting to find a crime scene. They entered an office and found it turned upside down. Chairs were on their sides, dirt was tracked all over the floor, bullet casings were left behind, and what appeared to be blood was streaked along the surface of the desk. In small teams the girls carefully recorded their observations, decided what they thought happened and shared their conclusions with the class. Next week: The JonBenet Ramsey case! The girls will learn to fingerprint and dust for prints left on evidence.
