  | Lifeguards Celebrate 100 Years! | Oceanside Beach Lifeguards celebrate a century of lifesaving service on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, with a Centennial Beach Lifeguard Celebration. The day begins with an Open House at Lifeguard Headquarters from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m., followed by an evening history celebration at Goat Hill Park Golf Course, where all are invited to share their own stories and photos. City departments formed a working group to align on storm responses and have created an El Niño resource hub where you can learn about ways to prepare your home, where to get sandbags, be ready for power outages, learn about flood zones, emergency alerts, and more. El Niño Information | | | | Water & Sewer Replacement Project | Work continues on the Strand for the Water and Sewer Replacement Project, replacing over 3 miles of aging sewer pipe and 2.5 miles of water main along streets and alleys, some of it nearly a century old. This two-year effort also adds a new stretch of recycled water line to expand sustainable water service. Details | | | | Free Cleanup & Paper Shred Event | This free event will be held for Oceanside residents at El Camino High on Saturday, October 3 from 8 a.m. to noon, or until trucks are full. Drop off old household items like appliances, furniture, and mattresses. Proof of residency is required, with a limit of four items per household and five banker’s boxes for shredding onsite. Goodwill will also be there to accept reusable clothing, accessories, and small household items. | | | | Road Repairs Begin this Month | Crews begin a new cycle of repairs across many areas as part of the ongoing Pavement Management Program, with projects focusing primarily on high-traffic roads. The initial concrete work (ramps and curbs) began in mid-August and the asphalt work is set to start in October. The repairs will focus on 74 lane miles throughout the city. Crews are installing panels over the south parking lot as part of the citywide sustainable energy project. The expanded team members have already cleared an estimated 24,000 pounds of trash and debris and made many repairs in a short span of time.
