  | Downtown Water & Sewer Replacement Project Set to Begin | Oceanside will begin Phase II of its downtown water and sewer replacement project in early 2026, part of a five-phase program to upgrade aging infrastructure, some nearly 100 years old. The project will replace over 3 miles of sewer lines, 2.5 miles of water mains, and add nearly a mile of recycled water pipe to expand sustainable water options for irrigation. Construction will maintain traffic flow with road closures limited to nighttime, and work will be restricted during busy periods and events. Details and project map | | | | New Trail Coming to El Corazon | Oceanside is working on enhancing the trail system at El Corazon. In partnership with the Friends of El Corazon, the City is converting an existing service road into a public trail. The new trail will feature switchbacks and connections that integrate with the existing Garrison Creek Trail and eastern points of access. A key component includes improvements to a retaining basin, allowing the trail to traverse through areas that were previously inaccessible. The trail is expected to be completed by February 2026. Map | | | | Oceanside Pier Repair Update | Oceanside's Engineering team is launching the next phase of the Pier repair project: the design and permitting for the restoration of the fire-damaged Pier hammerhead. This phase develops construction plans and finalizes the necessary environmental permits from various state and federal regulatory agencies. Be part of a regional effort to support people experiencing homelessess through a countywide head count and survey. Volunteers will use a GIS-enabled mobile app to record survey locations, helping improve the accuracy of data and supporting ongoing outreach efforts in Oceanside. Volunteers will work from 4-8 a.m. on January 29, beginning at El Corazon Senior Center for an initial meeting. Register | | | | Tourism Continues to Bolster our Local Economy | While slower growth is predicted across the travel industry, tourism’s economic impact in Oceanside remained strong in 2024, with visitor spending climbing to $625 million—a 6% increase over 2023. Hotel and short-term rental demand rose by 4%. Group room night demand surged by 29%, underscoring Oceanside’s growing appeal as both a leisure and group destination.
