Downtown Water & Sewer Replacement Project Set to Begin

Oceanside will begin Phase II of its downtown water and sewer replacement project in early 2026, part of a five-phase program to upgrade aging infrastructure. The project will replace over 3 miles of sewer lines, 2.5 miles of water mains, and add a mile of recycled water pipe to expand sustainable water options for irrigation. Construction will maintain the flow of traffic. Road closures will be limited to nighttime, and work will be restricted during busy periods and events. Details

Fire Department Begins New Fuel Reduction Pilot Program

The Oceanside Fire Department is launching a new fuel reduction crew that will work by hand to remove flammable vegetation in high-risk areas to create defensible space that can slow the spread of wildfires. In addition to reducing wildfire risk, the program provides introductory entry-level Fire Department job opportunities to local youth.

Buena Vista Creek Habitat Restoration Project Advances

This planned project to restore a section of Buena Vista Creek in Southeast Oceanside was approved at the Planning Commission in October. The project, located along an urbanized section of the creek near Lake Blvd. and Thunder Dr., will improve water quality, enhance native habitat, and provide trails, interpretive signage, and seating. The project is now in the final phases of planning before construction. Overview
