Wildfire Preparedness in Oceanside

Our hearts go out to Los Angeles as residents and businesses grapple with the aftermath of the devastating wildfires. While we cannot control when or where wildfires strike, we have prepared extensively to safeguard the Oceanside community, should one occur, through enhanced emergency management staff, strategic investments in water infrastructure, and regional coordination. Free Community Safety Workshop Feb. 8

The Oceanside Fire Department invites you to participate in a new event, Oceanside S.A.F.E., focusing on Safety, AED and CPR, Fire Prevention, and Emergency Preparedness. The free Workshop will take place on Saturday, Feb. 8 from 9 a.m. to noon at Melba Bishop Recreation Center. Don't miss this opportunity to learn life-saving skills and important emergency preparedness tips! More

 
 

Join a City Board or Commission

Get involved! Oceanside residents are invited to apply for a spot on a Board or Commission where vacancies exist. The primary responsibility of board and commission members is to serve in an advisory capacity to the City Council, making sound, quality recommendations. City Council Meetings

The next regular City Council meetings take place at 5 p.m. on February 5 and February 19, 2025. There is also a Workshop on homelessness solutions on Feb. 12 at 5:30 p.m. The regular Council meetings are shown live via KOCT's website and Cox channel 19. MLK Community Service Award

It was our honor to recognize Ms. Bess Bronson as the recipient of the 2025 City of Oceanside MLK Community Service Award.This annual award is presented to a resident who exemplifies the ideals and teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and who has served the community in volunteer activities over a long period of time. Water Saving Rebates Offered

Oceanside Water Utilities offers rebates to customers who convert their lawns from living grass to landscapes that use less water, support the local ecosystem, and help minimize runoff. Rebates start at $3 per sq. ft. for residential customers and $5 per sq. ft. for commercial customers. Plus, get an extra $100 rebate per tree added to your project for a maximum of five trees. Community Cleanup Feb. 20

Join the Green Oceanside and "I Love a Clean SD" teams for a community cleanup on Thursday, Feb. 20 from 3-5PM at Libby Lake Park (424 Calle Montecito). Sign up or get additional information about these regular clean ups at cleansd.org. Participants of all ages are welcome!

 
 

Swell Plates = Culinary Celebration

Oceanside is leaning into the culinary travel trend with the introduction of the Swell Plates Series, a culinary celebration that runs through February 13, 2025. The series is designed to show off Oceanside’s culinary diversity, excellence, and creativity, while supporting local restaurants during a quieter time of year. 14 restaurants are featuring a chef-crafted dish, marked by the ‘Season of Swellness’ logo (at left) on the menu, that captures the spirit of O’side. School District News

The Oceanside Unified School District has approved a solar power initiative that will bring clean, renewable energy to district facilities at no cost to the district. This project is being implemented in partnership with Veregy, an energy solutions provider, through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). The project marks a significant step towards energy efficiency and sustainability for OUSD, with expected annual savings of over $500,000. More
