Wave Testing Shapes RE:BEACH

The City of Oceanside is testing its major coastal restoration pilot project called RE:BEACH, which aims to restore and protect our shoreline using an artificial reef, two constructed headlands, and added sand. The project team is testing a scaled model of the project in a large wave basin at Oregon State University. The physical model is being used to study how waves, currents, and sand move around these structures. This hands-on testing follows more than 900 computer simulations, and results will determine the final reef design before construction begins. More
