Tuesday, November 5 is Election Day. Specific to Oceanside, voters are casting their ballots for Mayor, City Clerk, City Treasurer, and City Council Members for Districts 3 and 4. Work to remove the debris and deck planking at the far west end of the Oceanside Pier is underway. Crews are setting up scaffolding and catwalks to build an extensive sub-floor under the fire damaged area to catch debris during the demolition work. RE:BEACH Pilot Project Location | The RE:BEACH Oceanside project team members have been busy gathering community input on the location of the RE:BEACH Pilot Project. The City Council will meet on Wednesday, November 20, at 5PM to review the results of the RE:BEACH pilot project's Siting Analysis and determine its location. | |

Bicycle Safety Class Saturday | The Oceanside Police Department offers periodic free bike safety classes. The next class is offered Saturday, November 2 from 9-11AM at the Oceanside Police Department. The class is geared toward kids ages 12 and up and their parent(s). General Plan Update Phase 2 | The City is preparing responses to the extensive public comments received on the General Plan Update Phase 2 and the associated Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR). To respond to community recommendations, the project team is revising and recirculating the DEIR. Various components of the General Plan Update Phase 2 will also be revised and made available for review. Landes Park Skate Area Improvements | Work starts early this month on exciting improvements to the John Landes Park skateboarding area. The construction of fun, new skate elements are planned. Local Plastic Bag Ban Begins Jan. 1 | Oceanside's Marine Debris Reduction Ordinance Plastic Bag Ban takes effect on January 1, 2025. Oceanside businesses will be prohibited from distributing single-use plastic bags starting January 1. Reusable or recyclable bags will be charged a minimum of 10 cents. By switching to reusable bags, we can all help reduce waste, litter, and pollution. | |

O'side Turkey Trot Returns | The O'side Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving Day event that features multiple races for all ages and skill levels. Starting at Oceanside Civic Center and crossing through Downtown Oceanside and the Harbor, the Trot finishes at the Jr. Seau Pier Amphitheater.
