Clean Energy Alliance Begins in April

A new, sustainable energy option—Clean Energy Alliance (CEA)— arrives in Oceanside on April 1, 2024. The alliance includes the cities of Carlsbad, Del Mar, Solana Beach, Escondido, San Marcos, and Vista. CEA will replace San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) for the purchase of energy on behalf of residents and businesses, offering local control and renewable energy options. SDG&E will still distribute the energy and bill us. Learn more at TheCleanEnergyAlliance.org.

Pier Utilities Project Nearing Completion

The Utility Replacement Project for the Oceanside Municipal Pier is almost complete.  The underside of the Pier has water, wastewater, natural gas, electrical, and communication lines, which support the lifeguard tower, fire hydrants, restrooms, lighting, restaurants, fish-cleaning stations, and bait shop. Many of these utilities have achieved 35 years of service in the harsh marine environment and needed replacing. Learn more

gO'side Shuttle Seasonal Hours Begin

The gO'side electric vehicle shuttle schedule will shift to seasonal hours beginning December 1 through April 2024. There will be no service Mondays and Tuesdays. Wednesday through Sunday service hours remain unchanged, serving Downtown Oceanside from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Please visit www.ridegoside.com for service area map and more information.

Organics Recycling Coming to

Single-Family Homes

Beginning in January, single-family households in Oceanside can include food scraps in their green carts with their green waste. This new program helps ensure compliance with Senate Bill 1383, which requires the reduction of organic waste disposed of in landfills by 75% by 2025. Businesses and multi-family homes have already begun organics recycling in Oceanside. With the rollout of single-family homes in the program, all Oceanside Waste Management customers will have access to food scrap recycling services. More information

Pearl Harbor Ceremony Dec. 7

Join us at the Oceanside Harbor Small Fishing Pier at 9:30 a.m. on December 7 for a brief community ceremony in remembrance of the 2,403 service members and civilians who were killed in the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. A color guard will open the ceremony, and brief remarks will be made before participants are invited to toss rose petals in memory of those lost that day.

Final RE:BEACH Workshop on Dec. 13

RE:BEACH is Oceanside's coastal resilience project, which is generating solutions from global experts on the retention of sand along Oceanside's coast. The third and final community workshop will take place on Wednesday, December 13 at the Junior Seau Beach Recreation Center between 4-7 p.m. Three teams will return with final designs for your viewing. A jury will then recommend one project to be presented to the City Council in January. To learn more, please visit the project webpage.

Community Cleanup Dec. 16

The Green Oceanside team has teamed up with "I Love a Clean San Diego" to hold monthly group cleanup events around town. Join us to collect any litter and prevent it from washing into the ocean. December's cleanup will take place at Libby Lake on Saturday, December 16 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Register to participate

The next regular Council meetings occur on December 6 and December 20 at 5:00 p.m. All are welcome! The regular Council meetings are shown live on KOCT and replayed throughout the week. Parks & Recreation Happenings

Oceanside Parks & Recreation is planning the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony downtown on Dec. 7, complete with family activites, performances, and photos with Santa.
