Sand Nourishment & Retention Pilot Project

The City Council approved Phase 2 of the Sand Nourishment and Retention Pilot Project on January 25. Phase 2 involves the development of a sand nourishment program, looking offshore for improved sand sources, and the design of a pilot sand retention project. The sand retention project seeks to invite innovation through a design competition, attracting new ideas and expertise to address our coastal erosion issue. The project kicks off this month, beginning with the development of a community outreach program and establishment of the design competition criteria. More

El Corazon Park Community Meeting Feb 2

The El Corazon Specific Plan includes nine park sites. Park Site 1 will be the first park area to be developed, and public input is being collected on the design. The second outreach meeting will held in person on Thursday, Feb. 2 at 6:00 p.m. at the El Corazon Conference and Event Center (3303 Senior Center Drive). State Re-designates Oceanside as 'California Cultural District'

Five years ago, Oceanside was named one of 14 inaugural California Cultural Districts. Through a lengthy recertification process and tour of state leaders, City staff worked with local organizations and community members to highlight Oceanside arts and cultural events and institutions. The California Arts Council very recently announced that Oceanside was being re-designated as a California Cultural District. Kudos to all involved!

City Council Meetings

City Council meetings are open to all. The next regular Council meetings occur on February 1 and February 15 at 5:00 p.m. Regular Council meetings are shown live on KOCT and replayed throughout the week. Landes Community Center Improvements

The John Landes Community Center in Oceanside's Tri City neighborhood has been reactivated with new services, programs, renovations, and the addition of a Library. Additionally, new skate area elements will be coming soon to the park. Stop by and say hello! Details

Public Safety Night at the Sunset Market

Meet Oceanside first responders at "Public Safety Night" at the Sunset Market on Thursday, February 2 from 5 to 8 p.m. This fun family event features vehicle displays by Oceanside Fire, Police, and Lifeguards. Oceanside International Film Festival is Back

Free Classical Music Performance Feb 4

The Oceanside Public Library will offer a free classical music performance at the Civic Center Library Community Rooms on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. Free parking is available in the Civic Center parking garage. Enjoy listening to classical and contemporary pieces, from Joseph Hayden to Guillermo Mauricio. Local musicians will showcase a diverse range of instruments to guide the audience through a musical journey. Free Transit Day Feb 4

To commemorate the life and legacy of Rosa Parks on her birthday, the North County Transit District, Metrolink, and other public transportation agencies around the country are offering free rides on Feb. 4. The free rides, on NCTD buses and trains – COASTER, BREEZE, SPRINTER, FLEX and LIFT – will be free for the entire day, as the district recognizes Feb. 4 as “Transit Equity Day.”
