Harbor Parade of Lights Dec 10 | Don't miss this magical holiday event hosted by the Oceanside Yacht Club on Saturday, December 10 at 7:00 p.m. Bring a blanket, some hot chocolate, and pick a comfortable spot to watch this year's Parade of Lights celebration in the lovely Oceanside Harbor. 'Love Lock' Sculpture Unveiled at Harbor | The "Love the O" sculpture was unveiled at the Oceanside Harbor yesterday, and sculpture donors were the first to place their engraved locks on the piece. The artwork by Randall Art Ranch was installed for the community to celebrate a commitment by placing a personal lock on the sculpture. Engraved locks, or ones simply marked for sentimental meaning to celebrate a birth, a marriage, a loved one, or a special occasion can be hung and revisited. The sculpture is located near the Harbor boat launch ramp. | |

Pier Utilities Replacement Project Underway | The underside of the Oceanside Pier has water, wastewater, natural gas, electrical, and communication lines which support the lifeguard tower, fire hydrants, restrooms, lighting, restaurant, fish cleaning stations, and bait shop. Many of these utilities have achieved 35 years of service in the harsh marine environment, and their replacement has begun.Parking Lot 29 on the Strand, north of the Pier, is closed during the work. The lot closure is needed for the excavation and construction of water and sewer line connection points, meter, backflow, fire suppression appurtenances, construction staging, and materials. | |

Free Dump Day Dec. 10...Drive Up & Drop | The Green Oceanside team is hosting a free "Dump Day" at Mance Buchanon Park (425 College Blvd.) on Saturday, December 10 from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Drive up and drop off any large items such as unrepairable furniture, appliances and e-waste. Additionally, "Landfill Weeks" are December 5-16. Visit Oceanside Expands Team | Visit Oceanside has expanded its team. Tyler Garcia joins as Vice President of Business and Brand Development, and will oversee new business development with an emphasis on partnerships and programs. Shae Geary joins as Director of Communications, leading strategic communications to drive interest in visitation to Oceanside and generate greater awareness about tourism’s positive contributions. OUSD Practicing "Farm-to-Table" | Oceanside Unified School District is getting students out of the classroom and into the garden, with programs that teach sustainability with a focus on a healthy lifestyle. South Oceanside Elementary has the Sage Garden Project. Palmquist Elementary has the Farm Lab class. Each program gives students a scientific understanding of growing food and its nutrition. Students at South Oceanside Elementary cook with their garden harvest. The Palmquist Elementary bounty is given to the school cafeteria for all students to enjoy a salad at lunchtime. | |
