Pure Water Oceanside is Operational
|
Pure Water Oceanside is the first operational water reuse project in San Diego County, and will supply 3-5 million gallons of water per day to Oceanside. Simultaneously, the City is also expanding its recycled water system. The two projects are being constructed at the same time to minimize impacts. The City's contractors will be repaving full lane road widths along the entire pipe corridor.

MLK Community Service Award Recipient

Each year, the City of Oceanside recognizes and honors a resident of Oceanside who exemplifies the ideals and teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and who has served our community through volunteer activities over a long period of time. Ms. Robbie Hass was named the 2022 recipient of the City of Oceanside Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Service Award. Learn more

A Look Back: Homeless Reduction Efforts

Many simultaneous efforts programs to diminish homelessness have been put into play in Oceanside over the past year: purchasing property and selecting an operator for Oceanside's first year-round shelter, a hotel voucher program to immediately get people off of the streets, committing funding for a 60-unit permanent supportive housing complex, and more. The City has begun the process of adjusting City Council District lines to reflect local population changes shown in the 2020 Census. To participate and provide feedback, please see the schedule of a series of Public Hearings and Community Outreach Meetings through March, or contact the City Clerk’s Office. City Council meetings are open to all. They meet for a Council Workshop on February 2 at 2:00 p.m. on the City's Solid Waste & Recycling contract. The next regular meeting dates are February 9 and February 23 at 5:00 p.m. Council meetings are shown live on KOCT and replayed throughout the week. 344 Small Business Grants Distributed
|
Oceanside small businesses are the backbone of our community, and to aid their recovery, the City Council approved financial assistance to small business applicants negatively impacted by the pandemic. Through its COVID-19 Small Business Grant Program, the City awarded 344 Oceanside small business grants totaling over $1.3 million. The City Council also approved a $1 million grant program for Oceanside nonprofits, which will be awarded in the coming months.

Digital Equity Community Workshop March 3
|
Oceanside launched a Digital Equity Plan effort, aimed at understanding and addressing the digital divide in the City. During the pandemic, it became clearer that digital access is an essential resource to access education, work, healthcare, and more. A data analysis is being conducted to gain insights into the unique challenges and opportunities related to digital equity. As part of this effort, the City is hosting a Community Workshop on March 3 at 6:00 p.m. in the Civic Center Library Community Rooms to gather your feedback and inform the Plan. We'll share findings and discuss opportunities.

Oceanside Unified School District News
|
The Oceanside Unified School District announced a new initiative called "Portrait of a Graduate", a model that districts throughout the country are using. During a collaborative process, they'll reflect on current practices and determine what is needed to ensure students thrive when they leave OUSD. The goal is to bring educators and the community together around a shared vision of what a successful graduate looks like. They're kicking things off this month with a student summit.
