'Tis the Season to Shop Local

The City's Economic Development Division joined forces with Mainstreet Oceanside and the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce to develop collaborative programs in an effort to support Oceanside businesses during the pandemic. The MainStreet Oceanside program features a new digital coupon book, social media contests, a window decorating contest, and outdoor Merry Makers Fair. The Oceanside Chamber of Commerce launched its "keep the cheer here" Shop Local Gift Card Give Away program. Learn more about both these efforts:

City Council meetings are occurring in a virtual manner during COVID-19 regulations. Participate online via Zoom, or via email or phone. The next regular meeting dates are December 2 and December 16 at 5:00 p.m. There is a Special Meeting on December 15 at noon to certify the results of the City's election and perform a ceremonial swearing in of elected officials. City Council meetings are shown live on KOCT and replayed throughout the week. Check the agenda and minutes to read about the issues the City Council is addressing. Thank you for your patience during construction of the Pure Water Oceanside and the recycled water pipeline projects in the Douglas Drive/Pala Road area. The contractor is working as quickly and safely as possible. Measure X is the 1/2 cent sales tax measure passed in 2018 by Oceanside voters. The revenue from the 1/2 cent is slated specifically for public safety, road repairs, improved infrastructure, and addressing homelessness in Oceanside. Community Service Award Nominations Due

The City is seeking nominees for the 2021 Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Service Award. This annual award began 30 years ago to honor residents of the Oceanside who have made a significant contribution of time and energy to improve community life, promote positive community development, and enhance the lives of residents. Street Sweeping Parking Enforcement to Resume in the New Year
|
Street sweeping parking enforcement will resume on January 4, 2021. The first two weeks of this resumption will result in warnings to the vehicles in the way of the sweeper, and citations will be given starting the week of January 18, 2021. Between now and then, staff will continue routine sweeping without enforcement while addressing signage and tree trim needs, and will tag potentially abandoned or stored cars on the street.

Grant Award for Loma Alta Wetlands Project
|
The City will receive an award of $175,000 from the National Fish & Wildlife Foundation’s Coastal Resiliency Fund. The award will fund the final design of the City’s Loma Alta Slough Wetlands Enhancement Project. The project will restore and enhance approximately six acres of coastal wetland and upland habitat near Buccaneer Beach in South Oceanside. Features include over 1,500 feet of new nature trails with educational signage and planned connections to nearby facilities. Key design benefits include improvements to wetland water quality, storm flow protection and wildlife habitat expansion. More information

The County of San Diego instituted this regional notification system to send cell phone alerts to residents and businesses within San Diego County impacted by an emergency or disaster. It's used by emergency response personnel to notify those homes and businesses with information on the event.
