Census 2020 begins in March ... Youth Count!
|
Shape our children’s future by participating in the 2020 Census.
Why is counting young children important
?
Newborn babies and young children under five are often missed in the census. The census helps determine which areas qualify for the critical resources that children and families depend on for the next 10 years. In mid-March, residents will begin receiving postcard invitations to complete the 2020 Census. Once the official invitation arrives at your home, you should respond in one of three ways: online, by phone, or by mail. The card will include detailed information about how to respond. In May-July, census takers go door-to-door to count people who have not responded to the 2020 Census.

City Street Tree Pruning Zones
|
The Public Works Department has implemented a Grid Pruning Program for City-owned trees along streets, medians and parks. A grid pruning program is a systematic tree maintenance program where trees in certain zones are fully pruned on a set schedule. For this purpose, the City is divided into
12 maintenance zones
.
The new pruning program strives to trim 3 to 4 zones every year. When each tree is inspected and pruned on a regular cycle, maintenance costs are reduced due to efficiencies in mobilization, scheduling and work tracking. The City cares for approximately 70,000 trees along streets, medians and parks.
