The monthly Glen Ellyn Chamber Community Newsletter is your resource to local news from the Chamber, civic partners, village and county for your family and our Glen Ellyn businesses.

Due to COVID-19 the Chamber will not be hosting the Halloween Festival. A new event Scarecrow Rows has taken its place as a socially distant event spread over 10 days. There will be 90+ scarecrows lined up in Downtown Glen Ellyn. Join the fun and see the handmade Scarecrows created by community members and local business, explore unique one-of-a-kind storefronts with their decorated windows and dine the fall menu at one of our many restaurants. Maps will be available from sponsoring businesses and on-line. Please wear masks and remain socially distant.

Halloween and trick-or-treating is not a Village of Glen Ellyn-sponsored event. Please use your best judgment regarding whether or not to have your children participate in trick-or-treating. To maintain public health and encourage residents to celebrate Halloween safely this year, The Village of Glen Ellyn offers Halloween guidelines and safety precautions LINK. The Village suggested residential trick-or-treat hours on October 31 are from 3 to 7 p.m.

Additionally, please see the list of Glen Ellyn Community Halloween Events listed below!

As we continue in the pandemic, remember to keep shopping and spending local to keep our storefronts open. The Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to be a resource and advocate to our members.

Stay Safe & Happy Halloween,

Dawn Smith

New Frida Kahlo Mural Unveiled in Anticipation of
"Frida Kahlo: Timeless" Exhibit coming summer 2021

Local Artist/Illustrator Geoff Bevington Taps into
his Latino Heritage to Create Celebratory Work

Downtown Glen Ellyn is site of a new mural honoring artist Frida Kahlo. Work began Thursday, Sept. 24 on the 14-foot-high and 28-foot-wide mural gracing the wall of Olive ‘n Vinnie’s, located at 449 N. Main Street. The mural is scheduled to be completed later this week. The mural was designed by Glen Ellyn’s own Geoff Bevington and is being painted primarily by Bevington with some assistance by other artists and local residents, including children. The project is made possible thanks to the Village of Glen Ellyn, McAninch Arts Center, National Endowment for the Arts and Tim Elliott for their sponsorship of the mural. The Power of Public Art
RISE by Rose
A young rising artist has transformed the rear wall of fitness and cycle studio RISE Fitness, from a bland blank wall, into a beautiful, floral sight. The artist Rose Fenske, age 15, a high school sophomore at Glenbard West, has always had a passion for painting and art. Her mural represents RISE’s motto of inspiration, energy, and good health. “This space had not been used in years,” says owner Katelyn Kaese, “But we had the need for outdoor space due to Covid-19. We are grateful to Rose for creating this mural as a lasting reminder of beauty even during a pandemic.” The mural can be viewed from neighboring business, Northside Pub’ back patio and is located at 505 Pennsylvania Avenue.
