The California Assembly approved Senate Bill 393, the Consumer Arrest Record Equity Act, in order to seal arrest records and prohibit employers and/or landlords from using non-convictions as a hiring or housing decision. Sealing arrest records would help eliminate barriers to housing and employment for those arrested for a crime, but not convicted. Read More
