The Concord Community Garden
The Concord Community Garden, located behind the Old Stone School at 7125 Ravenna Road, now has a big beautiful perimeter fence surrounding the garden plots. The fence was installed as the Eagle Scout project of Concord resident James Keherly. James planned and oversaw the installation of the much-needed protective fence.

Cancer caused 70% of the line of duty deaths for career firefighters in 2016, according to the latest statistics posted by the Firefighter Cancer Support Network. Concord Fire Department took another step to protect our own from becoming a statistic.

Through the BWC Firefighter Exposure to Environmental Elements Grant Program we were awarded funds to purchase an “extractor”. This specialty washing machine is more efficient in removing carcinogens and other environmental contaminants from firefighter turn out gear.
Due to current space limitations in our fire stations, firefighter turnout gear is stored in our apparatus bays. In 2016, we installed vehicle exhaust removal systems in both fire stations. This has helped not only minimize the gear’s exposure to vehicle exhaust, but kept the exhaust from entering the stations.
As we look toward the future fire station design, we plan to incorporate dedicated storage areas for turn out gear. We will transfer our vehicle exhaust removal systems to the new facilities and continue to maintain our gear cleanliness with the extractor washer – all ongoing steps we can take to keep Concord’s firefighters healthy.

Wreaths Across America (WAA)

Concord Cemetery will be participating in the Wreaths Across America (WAA) program this year. This national nonprofit organization has a mission to Remember, Honor and Teach: Remember the Fallen, Honor those who served and their families and Teach future generations about sacrifices made to preserve our freedom. We have had several requests from residents in the past to participate. This year’s wreath-laying ceremony is slated for December 15, 2018 at noon.

Fundraising information or volunteer opportunities with laying the wreaths, please contact Karen Warner at (440)-354-7518.

If you have an interest in sponsoring a wreath(s), forms are available in Town Hall, online 2018-Sponsorship-Form or by a direct link.

Cemetery Decorations

Please understand that if you are placing sentimental items on the graves, they may get lost, stolen or damaged. If it is something that's near and dear to your heart, we do not recommend that it be placed in the cemetery. The Rules and Regulations can be found at the entrances in the cemetery in info boxes and online .
