Born on October 19, 1938 in Kingston, Jamaica, Nelson Cooper is an entirely self-taught artist with great admiration for the great masters, their techniques and their talent to portray more than what they see.
Charming and extraordinarily understanding are two qualities that would describe both  Nelson Cooper  and his work. Very often his work portrays personalities surrounding him, both in reality and imagination.
His famous madonnas and self portraits are as tender and melancholic as his memories of past years relating to the close ties to his mother and the introspective and spiritual evaluation that occurred in him after her death. His choice of colour is surprisingly bright and vibrant, perhaps a reflection of his optimist and cheerful self.

Spencer had talent as a painter of scenes of Jamaican life which, as a boy, he would sell for pocket-money in the capital of Kingston. In the 1950s he traveled to the UK but did not take the opportunity to attend Art School. Instead, he continued to sell his works, eventually buying a car, which became both his gallery and means of transport. On returning to Jamaica in 1986, he started building a large house in Fisherman's Park, Long Bay, Portland. Six stories high with circular staircases and a vast studio, it was half castle and half temple, surrounded by a high wall. Here he settled with his common-law wife and two sons. It remains a tourist attractionFrom there he continued to paint figurative canvasses - seascapes, landscapes, vignettes of Jamaican life and, from the 1970s, individual character sketches. He died on 28 December 2005, aged 76.

Jamaican visual artist, Taj Francis, has a array of visual expression, mainly focused through illustration. The body of work he produces, draws influence from a Jamaican Reggae aesthetic, Japanese Manga, vintage vinyl and poster Art, Baroque Paintings and Super-Flat Pop Art aesthetic. However, his work continues to evolve and manifest in variety of ways, such as street art, video art and animation. Cultural dualities, internalised human issues, and African/Caribbean identity, are subject matters that will often be seen in his body of work. His work has been exhibited in places such as Athens, Cancun, Berlin and his home country Jamaica.
