Fall 2019
Well Wishes for Rosh Hashanah
As the Jewish New Year is upon us, I wanted to wish those who celebrate a happy, peaceful and meaningful New Year. Jewish tradition teaches that the fall holidays represent a season of renewal. Rosh Hashanah provides an opportunity to start fresh while we develop both a personal and communal plan for our commitments. As an agency, we take great pride in our work to serve nearly 13,000 members of our greater Dallas community.

We enter this new year knowing that we will always stay true to our mission- to care for every individual in need- even with new commitments and as we grow as an organization. May our collective efforts be even more meaningful and successful in the New Year.

Society of Life Giving Circle
Changes beginning Fall 2019

Founded by Ethel Zale in 2005, Society of Life has given donors of $1,800 and more the opportunity to provide sustaining support for our wide array of expert mental-health and social services. These annual contributions make it possible for us to offer services on a sliding fee scale — that can go to $0 — ensuring no client is turned away because of inability to pay.

Our new giving society levels ($1,800 - $50,000+) give us an opportunity to thank our generous donors throughout the year with access to special events, unique opportunities to engage with the work of JFS, and public recognition of the vital support they provide to the agency.

Levels are determined by the cumulative amount given within our fiscal year (7/31/19 to 8/1/20) directly to JFS. NOTE: Does not include in-kind donations.

Spotlight: JFS at The Roseland Communities
Rosh Hashanah Thank You!
In one morning, we distributed 650 Rosh Hashanah packages to members in the community as a reminder of love and support during the Holidays. The bags are filled with challah rolls, grape juice, apples, and honey that are donated from community partners (listed below). These items represent the sweetness we experience in life and the sweetness we want for the year to come. Thank you to those who assembled, donated, and delivered this past Sunday.

Community Partners for this project include:
The Legacy Willow Bend (assembly), American Airlines (donation and assembly), Texas Instruments (assembly), Tom Thumb at Preston and Forest (donation), Nate Nate’s Honey Co. (donation) and all the other volunteers who helped to drive routes and assemble packages. We could not do it without you!
JFS was selected as one of the beneficiaries for the Beth Torah Men's Club's event: Fifth Annual Dallas Kosher BBQ Championship ! We will be hosting a food drive at the event to help stock our Food Pantry shelves as well. We hope you can join us and attend what is a sure to be an awesome event!

JFS Foundation: Give a gift that lasts a lifetime
The power of permanent endowment means your gift will continue to grow over time. With a minimum of $10,000, you can establish a fund today that could grow to nearly 6 times its size over the next 50 years. Planned giving ensures that vital JFS health and human services will be available to all in need for your lifetime and beyond.

The Jewish Family Service Foundation would be happy to work with you and your financial advisors to create a charitable giving plan that spans generations.

Planned Giving options to consider:

  • A gift in your Will or Living Trust
  • Distributions from Retirement Funds, such as an IRA
  • Stock, Appreciated Assets, and/or Collectibles
  • Real Estate and Personal Property
  • Life Insurance
