Week of November 12-16, 2018
“There is a place in America to take a stand
It is public education. . .
It is the great common ground. . .
It is in public education that the American dream begins to take shape.” Tom Brokaw
Dear Southern Door Community,

This coming week is American Education Week and the theme is "Great Public Schools for Every Student." Caring faculty, support staff, substitutes, volunteers and involved parents make the difference in a child's learning. This is certainly true of our community here at Southern Door as evidenced by several highlights this week.

We would like to thank the residents for their support of our students and staff through the November 6th referendum vote. These referendum questions will positively impact all students in our district through programming and facilities improvements, and allow us access to additional per-pupil funding that all other districts have. We are incredibly appreciative to our Southern Door voters for these results. Approval of both questions shows that our community truly supports our students and staff, and believes in our work as educators to engage, empower and excel.

If you are looking to close out this wonderful week with a feel-good show that showcases the drama and musical talents of our high school students, please consider Mamma Mia! Last night's performance was musical perfection in addition to being hilarious and engaging! It is a huge celebration of who our students, staff, and community are! A special thank you goes out to all the staff, parents, and community volunteers involved in this special production highlighting our students!

Thank you for continuing to be the eyes, the ears, and the voices that our children need! Southern Door is a strong school supported by a strong community!

Celebrating Southern Door because Together We Are Eagle Strong!
