E-NEWSLETTER MARCH 2023

Message from the President - Sarah Watkins
The year is in full swing, and 2023 looks to be a big year. The Stormwater VIC committee has been hard at work over the recent months, and we're incredibly excited for the events coming up.

The much-requested Stormwater Flow Target series is already underway, with a sell-out attendance.

We'll also be kicking off the Victorian Urban Drainage Manual with a members session, so keep an eye out!

These are key topics that industry is seeking leadership and guidance on and were highly requested as part of our recent membership engagement. This is a big way in which Stormwater Victoria hopes not only support the industry, but also lead it towards the changes we, and our members want to see!

Lastly, our conference is shaping up to be one of the best yet, so get cracking on those registration forms, because you do not want to miss it!

Stormwater Victoria Flow Series Update

Stormwater The first session of SV’s three part flow series was launched last week with a massive turn out. Thanks to everyone for contributing to the lively discussion and a special thanks to our presenters Sharyn Rossrakesh, James Newton and Dr Paul Leahy for sharing your insights and knowledge with the industry.

Next week, we’ll be up bright and early for the second instalment of the series - Changing Stormwater Management Practices and New Approaches.

Building on the first event of the Flow Target Series, this breakfast session will focus on the changing practices within the stormwater industry, as a result of the shift in flow targets. New stormwater management approaches/solutions which are currently being considered across the stormwater industry will be presented and discussed.

This will give attendees an understanding of what is currently being done to achieve the new flow targets, and provide examples of new stormwater management approaches and options. Supporting industry with these new approaches will be the launch of the Melbourne Water’s Stormwater Industry Guidance Program; with a project overview and unveiling of an industry survey to capture industry guidance needs.

Presenters will include Nigel Corby, Spiire; Aaron Dowling, E2Designlab; Gayani Chandrasena, Water Technology and Jamie Comley, Jamie Comley Environmental Consulting
