Social Marketing, Social Media, AI, and Forestry

Social marketing is rooted in traditional marketing techniques and applies these principles to social issues in an effort to influence positive behavioral change. This paper explores the application of social marketing techniques to forestry, including conservation efforts with family forest landowners.

Striking a Sustainable Chord

The history of guitar manufacturing is rich. The career of a luthier1 not only relies upon crafting a working guitar, but one that is beautiful, reliable, and most importantly sought after in the economic market. However, we face a growing resource issue due to many of the most popular wood species for guitar manufacturing now becoming endangered and protected.

Prescribed Fire in the Lake States

This paper organizes theory and practice as it relates to the Great Lakes region of Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan, where case studies are used to highlight what prescribed fire could look like under state, tribal, or private management respectively. The intent of this publication is to address the need for further geographically-specific literature, feature pertinent case studies, and inform the continued work of fire practitioners in Minnesota and beyond.

Water Waste Treatment in the USA

One of the biggest national issues facing wastewater treatment today is its average age of 33 years and grade of “D” from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). The inefficiency of the US Water Waste Treatment System (WWTS) stems potentially from a lack of public involvement and funding, which could be remedied with an increase in education and awareness paving the way for funding and consequently cleaner water.
