I hope that you are enjoying the summer.  Thank you to all of you who participated in and sponsored the  Serra Golf Classic and Ladies' Tennis Tournament on June 22.

We had another sell-out event.  I am thrilled to report that we exceeded our goal of $25,000! It was a beautiful day on the golf course and it was great to see our alumni and Serra supporters.  We have already scheduled our next tournament for Monday, June 20, 2016 at Peninsula Golf & Country Club.

There will be many exciting events this fall, particularly the Super Reunion on October 17 and the Fall Alumni Games November 25-27. We would love to see you back on campus. Please let me know if you have questions about any of our upcoming events.

Sincerely,

Bob Greene, Jr. '85
Alumni Director

Please join us at noon for the Alumni Barbecue and football game against Mitty and the Super Reunion in the evening. The Super Reunion will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail party, followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. Please help us to spread the word! CLICK HERE for more information and to register.

Alumni and Sons Prepare for New School Year
As we welcome our new freshmen, it's important to note that there are 23 alumni dads and four alumni grandpas of Padres in this spirited class. The first kick-off event for the Class of 2019 was Giants Night at Serra on June 30. Close to 200 incoming freshmen and their dads had a blast eating pizza and watching the Giants take on the Miami Marlins.

"It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm of the incoming students and their dads," said Serra Admissions Director Randy Vogel. "They had a good time reconnecting with old friends and meeting new people."

Alumni Father-Son Mass and Reception is September 18
Celtic Cross The Alumni Father-Son Mass will be held at 7:30 p.m. on September 18. We are proud of the number of students who are following in their dads' footsteps by attending Serra. Our alumni dads and grandpas join their sons each year at the Alumni Father-Son Mass.

The Father-Son Mass exemplifies Serra's tradition of building men of faith, wisdom, service, community and leadership. As a tradition during Mass, fathers and sons place candles in a galvanized tub. By the end of the Mass, the candles melt together to signify unity. CLICK HERE for information and to register.

Crew Team Finishes #7 in the Nation

Serra crew ended an outstanding season with a great showing at the National Championships in New Jersey May 22-23, finishing #7 in the nation.

"The racing experience at nationals was extraordinary," said Serra Head Crew Coach Adam Jones. "Our guys responded to the challenge with confidence and poise. I could not be more proud of their achievements this year."

The JV and varsity boats both raced on Friday and won their heats. JV raced on Saturday morning and did not continue. The varsity boat continued to the Men's Petite Final, which was the second to last race of the day (the grand final).

"Despite not winning the national title, the New Jersey trip was a great learning experience for all rowers and it gave each rower a taste of intense racing," said Kevin Ponty '15, who will row for Santa Clara University's crew team in the fall. "The East Coast respects high school crew much more than the West Coast, which makes me appreciate Serra's investment in such a great sport."
