2017 Giving
Our fall appeal, directed toward alumni and parents of alumni, has been sent in the mail. Our focus is participation. We are grateful for each and every gift which seeks to inspire, transform and innovate here at Serra. Please consider sending back the return envelope, or making an online gift at the link below.
2017 Father-Son Mass
Close to 100 alumni dads, grandfathers and current Padres recently attended the Alumni Father-Son Mass.

"This Mass celebrates the Padre brotherhood," noted Alumni Director Bob Greene '85. "Having a son who is a senior meant a lot to me this year. It was great to be able to spend the morning with Reggie and other Serra parents and their sons. We even had a few grandfathers."

Our Serra alumni have 18 sons in the senior class, 23 sons in the junior class, 24 sons in the sophomore class, and 15 sons in the freshman class. In addition, 11 alumni grandfathers have grandsons at Serra.

"The Alumni Father-Son Mass is inspirational and heartwarming," said Mike Callan '86, who attended the Mass with his son, Nicholas. "It's bittersweet for me this year, because Nicholas is going to college next year."

Nicholas said his mom and dad have supported him on his journey at Serra, and it has been nice to be part of such a tight-knit community.

"The Serra tradition is strong in my family, and my dad will always be part of that," said Nicholas Caceres '18. "I have learned so much about brotherhood and leadership at Serra. When I have kids, I want to send them to Serra to carry out the Padre tradition."

"It's a great tradition and it enables us to be part of the Serra community," said Nicholas' dad, Joel Caceres '87. "It's so nice to reconnect with the administration and spend some time with my son. One day, I hope I'll be a grandpa up there!"

AP Scholars
Dozens of Serra students recently were honored by the College Board for outstanding achievement on 2017 Advanced Placement exams.

Thirty-five Padres were honored as AP Scholars, earning a score of three or higher on three or more exams. Fourteen students earned the AP Scholar with Honor distinction, scoring an average of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of three or higher on four or more of these exams. Finally, 19 Padres earned AP Scholar with Distinction, granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of three or higher on five or more of these exams.

According to the College Board, "The AP Program recognizes high school students who have demonstrated outstanding college-level achievement through their performance on AP Exams" with AP Scholar Awards. Congratulations to our Padre Advanced Placement Scholars!
College Commitments
Serra seniors have already begun committing to colleges, especially those students being recruited by collegiate athletics programs. Thus far, members of Serra's Class of 2018 have declared commitments to Stanford, Harvard, Columbia, UC Berkeley, UC San Diego and Washington State.
