There will be no "Great Wednesday" dinner and classes this week but we will have Wednesday Noon Bible Study and the 6 PM Healing Eucharist. "Great Wednesday" dinner and classes will resume next week.
This year, Hal Gordon will once again lead the Stations of the Cross every Friday at noon from March 8 through April 12 in the Nave of Palmer. The Stations of the Cross is an ancient devotion by which believers may symbolically walk with Christ on the road to Calvary. Come join us. It will enrich your Lent and make your Easter all the more joyful.
DAUGHTERS OF THE KING (DOK) MEETING
All Palmer Women Invited! Our March meeting is this Saturday from 9-10:30 AM in the Family Room. Sue Howard will lead our study of Part One of the book "Called" by Barbara Cawthorne Crafton. We will discuss what it means for each of us - lay or ordained alike - to pursue The Divine Call. This is a wonderful Palmer source for fellowship with other women, and we welcome any Palmer woman to attend!
FAITH FORUM THIS WEEK:
Observing a Holy Lent: What's Grace Got To Do With It? This Sunday Morning at 10 AM in St. Bede's Chapel
Lent, more than any other liturgical season, is
vulnerable to extremes. Some of us delight in the flagellation of the season with our ascetic disciplines, while others, in rebellion against the strictures of penance, flaunt Lent as if it were one long Mardi Gras. Funnily enough, both extremes belie a yearning for forgiveness and a fear to see ourselves as we really are. This Lenten series seeks to explore what Lent might be for us if God's enduring forgiveness were the seedbed, the launch point, for gracious self-examination. Join us as guest conveners and Palmer clergy introduce us to a Lent characterized by grace in pursuit of holiness. This week we welcome The Rev. Canon Joann Saylors and Nick Puccio.

Everything Happens for a Reason and Other Lies I've Loved
by Kate Bowler
"What does it mean to die in a society that insists everything happens for a reason?" This is the question that motivates Kate Bowler's writing as stage IV colon cancer interrupts her life, just as it is taking off. A professor of American Christianity at Duke Divinity School, Bowler weaves her research interest in the prosperity gospel into the experience of diagnosis, treatment, and the loss of certainty that comes to enrich her faith. Riddled with wit and honesty, Everything Happens for a Reason invites us to consider our own mortality and the God who companions us through it. Join us for this lively discussion every Wednesday night beginning March 20 in Lent at 7PM in A202. You can read her NY Times op-ed on the experience by clicking here or click here to listen to a podcast with The Rev'd David Wantland who will be leading the discussion group.
