DR. BRADY KNAPP CELEBRATES
Please join us for a special reception in honor of Dr. Brady Knapp Sunday, April 7, after the 11 AM Service in Parish Hall. Please note the time change from our earlier announcement. Dr. Knapp, who teaches at the University of St. Thomas and chairs the music department there, is Palmer's Director of Music and has served in that part-time role for more than 20 years. Throughout those two decades, he has nurtured the outstanding choral music program that lifts up our hearts to God at every Choral Eucharist and Evensong liturgy. As part of celebrating this anniversary, we would like to give Brady a mini-sabbatical for the purpose of observing choral music programs in the Church of England and discussing those programs with his British colleagues. This will benefit not only Brady but also Palmer. So the Vestry invites parishioners who would like to contribute to a sabbatical fund to send a check to the church and write "Knapp Sabbatical" in the memo line. In the meantime, do be sure to thank Brady for his devotion to our life together in Christ!
LIVING COMPASS LENTEN MINI-RETREAT
Come join us midway through Lent this Saturday from 9 AM - 1 PM in St. Bede's Chapel. Lunch is included. It will be led by John Wallace and the Rev. Liz Parker. We will use the Living Well Through Lent 2019 booklet (freely available at Palmer;
online as a pdf) and the theme is Forgiveness. Please RSVP to John,
jbwtex31@gmail.com, if you are attending or may attend.
JERUSALEM PEACEBUILDERS SERVCE PROJECT
This Sunday, Jerusalem Peacebuilders will be bringing together Jewish, Christian, and Muslim youth for a day of volunteering, interfaith learning, and team-building at the Houston Food Bank. Teens will enjoy making new friends and a service-project focused on sorting and packaging donations for the needy of the city. All Palmer youth between the ages of 13-18 years old are invited to participate. For more information and how to register, please contact Youth Minister, Davis Mathis, at dmathis@palmerchurch.org.
Hal Gordon is once again leading the Stations of the Cross every Friday at noon through April 12 in the Nave. The Stations of the Cross is an ancient devotion by which believers may symbolically walk with Christ on the road to Calvary. Come join us. It will enrich your Lent and make your Easter all the more joyful.
