Spring Testing Updates

SPRING TESTING IN APRIL/MAY 2022.
Teachers will inform student of testing dates/times. DO NOT BE ABSENT...due to the large number of students and exam and makeup days are tight. State testing has a very small testing window.

Students with PAPER-accommodations test have different schedule. Teachers will inform and give passes to all students.
  • FSA ELA WRITING for 9th and 10th graders will start on 4/4/22-4/11/22 ( one day)
  • FSA ELA READING for 9th and 10th graders will start on 5/2/22-5/11/22 (two-day testing)
  • GEOMETRY will start on 5/12/22-5/17/22 two-day testing)
  • ALGEBRA 1 will start on 5/16/22-5/19/22 two-day testing)
  • US HISTORY will start on 5/20/22-5/23/22 (one day)
  • BIOLOGY will start on 5/23/22-5/25/22 (one day)
  • MAKEUPS--see below for makeup dates...
  • AP EXAMS will start on 5/2/22-5/13/22
  • AP MAKEUPS 5/17/22-5/20/22

BEST ADVICE FOR SPRING TESTING- DO NOT BE ABSENT. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

MAKEUP DAYS FOR EXAMS...THIS IS A FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BASIS. ALL STUDENTS NEED TO COME TO THE MEDIA CENTER AT 7:30 AM ON MAKEUP DAYS AND I WILL PLACE THEM IN A TESTING ROOM. THEY MUST COME TO THE MEDIA SO THAT I CAN GIVE THEM TESTING TICKETS AND PASSES.  DO NOT EMAIL ASKING TO PLACE YOU IN A ROOM FOR A MAKEUP TEST. I WILL PLACE YOU ON DAY OF MAKEUPS AT 7:30 A.M.  YOU ARE ALLOWED TO TAKE A STATE AND AP EXAM ON THE SAME DAY. IF YOU ARE A MULTIPLE AP TESTING STUDENT, I STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT YOU CHOOSE YOUR TIME WISELY. STATE TESTS TAKE PRECEDENCE AND 5/26-5/27 ARE THE LAST MAKEUP DAYS FOR STATE TESTING FOR NOW. LOOK AT MAKEUP DATES BELOW AND PLAN ACCORDINGLY.

IF AP EXAM CONFLICTS WITH A STATE TEST, THEN THE STUDENT/AP TEACHERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR KNOWING MAKEUP DATES. I WILL NOT HUNT/SEARCH STUDENTS- IT IS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO BE INFORM AND COME TO TEST ON MAKEUP DAYS. THE WINDOW IS EXTREMELY SMALL, SO DO NOT BE ABSENT.

MAKEUPS DAYS

FREE Tutoring through Miami-Dade Public Library System
The Miami-Dade Public Library System has two programs to help students academically, and best of all they are FREE. live, and interactive:

“Help your child have a successful school year with the Miami‑Dade Public Library System’s Homework Help & Tutoring Program. Free, 30‑minute one‑on‑one virtual tutoring sessions with certified teachers are available on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. ‑ 1:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. to all K‑12 students who reside in Miami‑Dade County. Tutoring is available in reading and math. To participate, please submit a tutoring appointment request for your child/ren each week. To maximize learning, a computer or laptop with Internet access and a working camera and microphone is required.”
Very soon, MDPL will be rolling out a program in which we circulate laptops to take home that will include internet access. It’s a CAREs Act grant.

2-  tutoring.mdpls.org
Tutoring.com is normally a paid service through The Princeton Review, but is free for students with a library card (easy to get- see below).
“Experts help you with homework, study for tests and write essays from noon to midnight daily.” The student can have typing or voice chat. They can request a specific tutor that they have worked with before or take a random tutor. The entire interaction is recorded and the student can put the transcript into a personal virtual locker. They can email it to their teacher or refer to it in the future.
Other Notes:
If a student doesn’t have a library card, they can get one almost instantly at https://www1.mdpls.org/webservices/ecard/Account/Register.

If they have any issues with logging on to any of the resources, customercare@mdpls.org can resolve problems from M-Th 9am-8pm, Fri & Sat 9am-6pm.

Public libraries are open for students to study in, with safety measures in place. They also have computer access. For locations and hours: https://www1.mdpls.org/webservices/locator/
