KDMC Kickoff Classic
The football season kicked off last night with the KDMC Kickoff Classic at Copiah Lincoln Community College.
Mamie Martin Elementary School
Due to the rainy weather lately, kindergarteners in Ms. Hurst's class have enjoyed being creative during recess.
Brookhaven Elementary School
As part of the social and emotional learning curriculum at BES, students are working hard to respect themselves as well as others.
Lipsey Middle School
Students in Ms. Channell's 6th grade science classes have been studying the digestive system.
Alexander Junior High School
Quest students studied their gifted brains in class. After learning that the cerebellum is in charge of balance and coordination, they exercised that part of their brain by bouncing tennis balls, dribbling basketballs, bouncing on one leg, and testing their blinking reflux and response time with a ruler drop.
Brookhaven High School
Ms. White's Spanish classes played Buscola to review vocabulary. Ms. White calls out the word in English while the students find the word in Spanish. The first one to find the vocabulary word wins the card, and the student with the most cards at the end of the game wins.
Brookhaven Technical Center
Polymer Science 1 students made oobleck and slime to investigate intermolecular bonding in both natural and synthetic polymers.
New Teacher Network
New Teacher Network is a mentoring and induction program for new-to-the-profession teachers. The goal of this program is to welcome newly certified teachers to our district and community and to provide them with emotional and professional support tailored to the needs of beginning teachers. New Teacher Network meets monthly and addresses such topics as classroom management, planning for and delivering effective instruction, parent communication, and professional growth.
Ole Brook Panther Athletics
Thursday Night Lights
The Ole Brook Panthers played the Lawrence County Cougars Thursday night in the season opener. The Panthers came up short 21-16.
