CONGREGATIONAL ASSEMBLY RECAP - SEPT 2021
Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Our annual late summer congregational assembly, which is intended to review the activities/results from the previous year, was held on Sunday September 19th.

The agenda was
  1. Review of the 2020-2021 Annual Report
  2. Lift Station/Sewer Easement proposal with Casey's General Stores
  3. Call for an Extended Learning Teacher
As with meetings in the past, this year’s meeting was exciting and informative.

The deacon review of the annual report was conducted via a question-and-answer session. The highlight of this portion of the evening was Deacon of Stewardship Shawn Wietbrock presenting an update to the Faith Forward campaign. Please keep an eye and ear out for more information regarding this important topic.

Presiding Deacon Tyler Petersen presented a proposal for a lift station/sewer easement with Casey's General Stores. Casey's is intending to purchase the vacant land on the corner or Rt. 59 and Grass Lake Rd. adjacent to the southwest corner of our property. This agreement would allow Casey's to connect to our lift station, rather than building their own. This would change a couple things for us. First, we would no longer own the lift station and sewer line running from the lift station to the old bank on the southwest corner of Rt. 59 and Grass Lake Rd. The lift station and the sewer line running to the bank would become a public utility, thus removing our responsibility for maintenance and repair. Second, we would no longer be providing power to the lift station.

Casey's has also agreed to compensate Faith for the easement and lift station access.

The proposal was approved.

Presiding Deacon Tyler Peterson then presented a request to call an Extended Learning Teacher. This role was already being performed by Charissa Breitkreutz. The call was approved and has been extended Charissa.

No new business was brought up from the floor.

Not to brag or anything, but this being my first time facilitating a congregational assembly as Presiding Deacon, we were finished in 45 minutes.

Blessings on your day,

Mark Kohl
Presiding Deacon

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS BIBLE STUDY - SUNDAYS at 9:30 AM
It's a fundamental concept in business, sports, and management: Keep the main thing the main thing. What's first in my life? What is my ultimate priority? It's a critical question in all facets of life.

For the next several weeks we will be studying the Ten Commandments. They are a summary of God's holy, righteous will and they tell us what to do and not to do. They help us to keep God first and foremost in our lives. This Bible Study will be taught by three members of our Pastoral Staff: Pastor Hermanson, Director of Christian Education Craig Breitkreutz, and Pastor Ungemach. Come join us this Sunday, October 10th at 9:30 AM in the Sanctuary.

NEW AND BLUE DOORS AT FAITH LUTHERAN SCHOOL
Faith Lutheran School has received much needed door maintenance resulting in new glass entry doors being installed in the main entry. The old entry doors had reached the point of being beyond repair. The side, gym, and back teacher entry doors all received a fresh coat of paint (inside gray, outside blue) to match the new sign installed last year. Rust/metal maintenance was also performed. Thank you to Mark Cobb for donating the time and materials for our new, blue doors!

THE ADDAMS FAMILY MUSICAL! COMING SOON TO SHORELAND
The Addams Family, a comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family, features an original story and it’s every father’s nightmare: Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family– a man her parents have never met. And if that wasn’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before– keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.

Performances will be held in Shoreland's gym on:
•   Friday, November 5 at 7:00 p.m.

PRAYER OF THE WEEK

I think I need a friend, Lord--someone to hold me accountable, to help me break my habit of __________. I need more self-control. I need more presence of mind to remember the consequences of continuing this habit. I need your Holy Spirit--send him to fight against my sinful flesh. I have catered to my flesh for too long. I am afraid I won't be able to stop, but I know I should trust in you instead. I don't want this bad habit any longer to get in the way of serving you. Help me tell the people I need to tell, take the steps I need to take, and put to death this foolish behavior. Amen
